Member of the Baptist Women's Mission Union. She was a Sunday school teacher. Sons, Charles R. Arrington, Stapleton and Mack Arrington, McBean; daughters, Mary Helen Landrum, Stapleton, Lara Kirby Verbeck, Banning, California, and Ruth Jones Blanchard, Avera. Sisters, Mattie Jane Wiegand, San Antonia and Dorothy Singleton, Harlem. M. W. Callaway and Sons. Notes: Bertha was born in 1909. She was the wife of Patrick L. "Pat" Arrington, born 1903 and died 1972.

Bell Rowland Arrington, Wrens, Ga., age 65, died at the Kennerstone hospital in Marietta on 12-4-1952. Interment in the Mt. Moriah Methodist churchyard, Native of Jefferson County. Made her home in Smyrna for the past three months. Member of the Church of God. Survivors: sons, J. E. Arrington, Smyrna, Rufus Arrington, Matthews, C. F. Arrington, Wrens and Fred Arrington, Augusta; brothers, C. H. Rowland and W. T. Rowland, both of Augusta and B. F. Rowland of Aiken.

Buna Stelle Arrington, Wrens, Ga, age 73 died 7-9-1957 when she was hit by a truck about two miles north of Wrens. Interment in the Wrens City Cemetery. Wife of Silas J. Arrington; sons, Hardy Arrington, Horace Arrington, both of Matthews, Ga., Willie Obed Arrington of Port Wentworth, Ga.,; daughters, Mrs. Beatrice James, Mrs. Flossie McDonald and Mrs. Idell Dixon all of Matthews,Ga. A native of Washington County, Ga., the daughter of the late John Warthen and Mrs. Sara Arrington Warthen. She was educated in Washington County and moved to Jefferson County as a young girl. 7-10-1957

Catherine Salvato Arrington, age 34, died in an auto collition in Augusta, Ga. Funeral services conducted at St. Mary's On The Hill Catholic Church. Interment in Newark, N. J., her native home. She was a beautician. She had lived in Augusta six years. A veteran of WWII, having served as a WAC. She made her home at 2137 Shirley Avenue. Survivors include her husband, Zettie Arrington; her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Nicholas Salvato of Newark; two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Pentz and Teresa Salvato, both of Newark; three brothers, John Salvato of Newark, Orlando Salvato of California and Randolph Salvato of Mexico.

Carpenter Newman Arrington, 65, 538 Camelia Drive, Martinez, died Thursday 12-25-1980 in a Richmond County hospital. He was the widower of Madelyn Lightfoot Mills Arrington. Interment in Hillcrest Memorial Park with Edgar Murrah officiating. A native of Jefferson County, but lived in Augusta for 50 years and Martinez for 8 years. He was an upholsterer. Survivors include one stepson, Robert J. Mills, Martinez, one brother, Tom Arrington, Stone Mountain, Ga. Elliott Sons Funeral Home. (TAC-12-27-1980) Note: Carpenter Newman Arrington is the brother of Annie Mae Arrington (1901 - 1971). Madelyn his widower was a popular pianist, violinest, singer. Charles Arrington, Stapleton, Ga., age 70, of 5249 W. Able Street, died 9-19-1999 at Jefferson hospital. native of Jefferson County, had retired from civil service. A navy veteran and a member of Stapleton Baptist Church in which he is buried. Survivors include: a brother, Mack Arrington, McBean; sisters, Ruth Blanchard, Avera, Helen Landrum, Stapleton and JoAnn Verbeck, Morongo Valley, Calif. Memorials made to the Cancer Society.

A native of Jefferson County, was a logger and member of Wrens Church of God. Survivors include his wife, Lois T. Arrington; three daughters, Mrs. Church (Mildred) Holley, Stapleton, Lynda Arrington, Wrens, and Mrs. Graham (Bobbie) Clark, Augusta; a son, W. J. Arrington, Augusta, Georgia.

David "Ken" Arrington, age 40, of Matthews, Ga., died 7-27-2005. He worked with Lewis Steel Works, Inc. for 15 years. Husband of Leann Arrington; son, Robert Arrington; parents, Rev. Emma Arrington Atkinson, age 62, wife of George C. Atkinson, died September 14, 1954 at her residence after an extended illness. Funeral services conducted at Asbury Methodist Church. Interment in Westover Memorial Park Cemetery. A native of Jefferson County, Ga., she had lived in Augusta for the past 30 years. She was the daughter of the late William D. and Catherine Louise Abbott Arrington. She was a member of Asbury Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Mrs. L. W. McGahee and Mrs. M. F. Clarke, both of Augusta; two sisters, Mrs. Vina Kendricks of Stilson, Ga., and Mrs. Oma Kendrick of Pembroke, Ga.; brother, Silas Arrington of Wrens, Ga.

Herman Jackson "Jack" Arrington,Sr., age 66, of Williams Drive, died December 6, 1993. Funeral Conducted at Poteet Funeral Home. A native of Jefferson County. Retired from Deerfield Specialty Papers Company. A Marine Veteran of WWII and had served in China. A member of Richmond Lodge No. 412, Free and Accepted Masons and the Alice Warren Chapter No. 483, Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include his wife, Verna M. Arrington; two sons, Herman Jackson Arrington Jr. and Lloyd W. Arrington, Wrens; two daughters, Denice Maria Pennington, Wrens, and Brends D. Uhl, Phoenix Ariz; his father, Thomas H. Arrington, Matthews; three brothers, Aubrey Arrington, North Augusta, Edward Arrington, Matthews, and Emory Arrington, Augusta; four sisters, Ann Prescott, Faye Williams, Nell Boulineau and Libby Boulineau, all of Matthews.

A native of Jefferson County, Ga. Lived in and near Thomson, Ga for 79 years. Retired farmer and carpenter. Member of Sweetwater Baptist Church. Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Emmie Baston, Warrenton, Ga., Mrs. D. S. Jones, Dearing, Ga., Mrs. R. E. Tester and Mrs. Joe Newsome of Thomson, Ga; two sons, T. S. Lillie Belle (Arrington) Guy, age 32, of 418 Ellis Street, died 6-28-1944. Interment in Woodland Cemetery. The body will remain at the residence of her mother, Mrs. W. J. Mamie E. "Jean" Arrington - Entered into rest Monday, July 22, 2008, Wife of the late Roy Arrington. A native of Statesboro and lived most of her life in Augusta. Graduated from Statesboro High School in 1946, was an employee of Statesboro telephone company, and retired from IBEW local union 1579 in Augusta. She was a member of St. James United Methodist and the Nowell Bible Class. Mrs. Arrington was a loving mother, grandmother, and aunt. Family members include her son: Paul E. Arrington and wife Carol of Dacula, GA, grandchildren: William S. Arrington and Mackenzie G. Arrington. She was preceded in death by her son: Steven Roy Arrington, parents: Mr. and Mrs. Solie O. Preetorius, brother: William S. Preetorius, and sister: Hilda Gettis. Funeral services will be held at St. James United Methodist on Thursday, July 24, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Linda Birchall officiating. Internment will follow at Westover Memorial Park.

She had lived in Augusta, Georgia for 50 years. Obed Wesley Arrington, Sr., age 82, died March 20, 1979 in a Burke County hospital. Funeral conducted at Church of the Nazarene, Wrens. Ga. Interment in the Keysville Cemetery. A native of Jefferson County and lived in Jefferson and Burke most of his life. A retired farmer and attended the Wrens Church of the Nazarene. Phillip Allen Arrington - died 8-3-2008 at his residence at the age of 71. He is the son of Claude Lee Arrington and Mary Sellars Arrington; brothers, Detroit Arrington, Roy Arrington and Tony Arrington; sister, Frances Joyner. Husband of Mary Wimberly of Augusta, Ga. Served in the Navy for many years.

Reece Cusell (Cusella) Arrington, Savannah, Ga. - died March 27, 1956 -age 50, at his residence following a long illness. Funeral services conducted at Port Wentworth Methodist Church. Interment held at Mt. Moriah Methodist Church at Matthews. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Eliza P. (Prescott) Arrington; three daughters, Mrs. Jack Arrington of Matthews, Mrs. Dwight Arnold of Port Wentworth, Ga., and Miss Edna Arrington; one son, Ronnie Arrington of Port Wentworth; one sister, Mrs. Lou (Lon) Smith (Annie Mae Arrington) of Keysville, Ga.; four brothers, Obed (Wesley) Arrington, Sr. of Keysville, Carpenter (Newman) Arrington and Willie (William Silas) Arrington of Augusta, and Tom (Gordon) Arrington of Stone Mountain. A member of Port Wentworth Methodist Church and a member of the official board of that church. The body will be at Fox and Weeks Funeral Home until time for the services.
