Cofer

Mary Jane Tucker Cofer, Chinaberry Lane, died September 28, 1979 in a Jefferson County hospital at the age of 101. Funeral conducted at Louisville Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church where she was a member.  Interment in the Louisville Cemetery. Native of Wilkes County, lived in Jefferson for 61 years. Sons, C. H. Cofer, M. D. Cofer & Samuel R. Cofer, Louisville. Daughters, Mrs. Bertha Arrington, Stapleton, Mrs. George Wiegland, San Antonio, Texas and Mrs. James Singleton, Harlem, Ga. Bethea-Posey Funeral Home, Louisville. Note: Mary Jane Tucker Cofer, born 1883.  She is the wife of Charles R. Cofer born 1881 and died 1925.  Charles has a Memorial stone interred at Ways Baptist Church at Stellaville, Ga, Jefferson County.  He is buried at Louisville Cemetery with his wife in Section C2.

Matthew Dekalb Cofer, 75, Mimosa Drive, died September 5, 1987 at University hospital.  A native of Taliaferro County, lived most of his life in Louisville, Ga. Retired U.S. Army master sergeant, served WWII, Korean.  A 32-degree Mason.  Member of Alee Shrine Temple, Stone Wall Masonic Lodge No. 96, Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, Louisville Kiwanis Club and American Legion.  He was the founder of Louisville Alcoholics Anonymous Group.  Wife, Edith Virginia McDonald Cofer; son, Michael Larry Cofer,  Louisville; daughter, Edith Christine Hall, Sanford, Florida; brothers, Charles H. Cofer & S. Revell Cofer. both of Louisville; sisters, Bertha Arrington, Stapleton, Dorothy Singleton, Harlem, & Mattie Jane Wiegand, San Antonio, Texas. Graveside services with full military honors at Louisville City Cemetery. Note: Matthew Cofer born November 25, 1911. His wife Edith Virginia McDonald Cofer born May 1, 1912 and died November 25, 1998.  Buried in Louisville Cemetery, Section A. with her husband.
