Hugh McNeely- died at the
age 69, funeral conducted at the Moxley, Ga Methodist Church at 3 o'clock this
afternoon, Rev. J. J. M. Mize, paster of the St. Luke Methodist Church office
assisted by Rev. E. Lucuc. The funeral cortege will Platt's funeral home at
12"30 o'clock this afternoon for Moxley. The pallbearers will be C.L. Powell, F.
H. Pope, S.C. Perdue, Byron Howard, J. B. Harroll and H. Ferguson. Mr. McNeely
died at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. W. B. Hawkins, 3065 Clark St.
Wednesday at 11:50 o'clock. He was a native of Jefferson county, a farmer nearly
all his life. A member of the St. Luke Methodist Church. Survivors include five
daughters, Mrs. W. B. Hawkins, Mrs. I. T. Walkins, Mrs. Mamie Price and Mrs.
Hattie McNeely, all of Augusta and Mrs. Willis Screws of Wadley, Ga. One son, W.
M. McNeely of Augusta. One brother, Joe McNeely of Summitt, Ga.

Maggie McWatty McNeely, died February 16, 1962, formerly of Waynesboro, Ga., lived in Perora, Ill. for 14 years with her daughter. Widow of Jesse J. McNeely. Member of First Baptist Church, Waynesboro. One daughter, Mrs. Herman Schaeffer; two sons, Eugene McNeely, Millen, Ga. and Ralph McNeely of Jacksonville, Florida. Two brothers-T. F. McWatty, Wrens and W. T. McWatty of Augusta, Ga. Stapleton Georgia Cemetery, Fletcher Funeral Home.
William L. McNeely, Louisville, Ga., a farmer, died September 30, 1929, the eldest son of W. D. McNeely. Three sisters and one brother.
William D. McNeely II, 54,
died January 10, 2006 of an extended illness. He was born in Jefferson County,
GA., to the late Calvin McNeely and Margaret Green-McNeely-Peacock. He served
his country in the USMC and was discharged with honors. He spent several years
as a commercial fisherman captain and later in retail managements. He traveled
extensively and retired 3 years ago in Savannah to be near his family and
friends. Survivors include one brother, Calvin and Sandra "Smith" McNeely of
Screven County; three sisters, Martha (Peacock) and Michael Lindsey of Millen,
GA, Brenda (Peacock) and Barry Cohen of Savannah, GA and Kathy (Peacock) and
William Toler of Alliance, NC; two sons, William D. McNeely III, and Shawn M.
McNeely both of Savannah, GA; two daughters, Amanda McNeely of Savannah, GA and
Carrie McNeely-Lee of Brantley County, GA; 1Grandson Trenton Lee of Brantley
County, GA. Funeral conducted at Smith Funeral Home.
Interment: The Stevens Cemetery on Coleman Lake Road. Smith Funeral Home of

Samuel Andrew McNeely
Sr., 73, of Bartow died Friday, March 30, 2007, at Jefferson Hospital. Mr.
McNeely was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County and had lived here all of
his life. He was retired from the timber business and was a United States Army
veteran. A private interment service will follow at a later date.
Survivors include one daughter, Angela McNeely Jones, Athens; three sons, Samuel
A. McNeely Jr., Adam McNeely, Bartow, and Kane McNeely, Huntsville, Ala.; one
sister, Jasmine Ruth Mole, Charlotte, NC; seven grandchildren, Samuel McNeely,
Anna McNeely Bailey, Brian Jones, Kevin Jones, Stephen Jones, Matt McNeely and
Will McNeely; and two great grandchildren. Smith Funeral Home was in
charge of the arrangements.
