Padgett

Beatrice Sherer Padgett, Keysville, Ga., age 85, died July 27, 1991,  Funeral conducted at M. W. Callaway and Sons Funeral Home, Wrens.  Interment in Keysville United Methodist Church Cemetery. A native of Olglethorpe County, attended State Normal School, Athens, and graduated from the University of Ga. Member of Keysville Baptist Church and a homemaker.  Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Upton (Hassie) P. Cochran and Patsy Padgett, both of Keysville; three sisters, Mrs. A. R. (Sallie) Hutto, Carlton, Mrs. Edwin (Winnie) Smith, Atlanta, and Mrs. R. W. (Elizabath) Smith, Decatur; a brother, James E. Sherer, Tignall.  A retired teacher at, Madison, Jefferson, Burke, and Richmond Counties.  (TAC)

Hubert Lester Padgett, Sr., died April 14, 1949, age 42 at the Oliver General Hospital.  Funeral conducted at Keysville Methodist Church.  Interment in the church cemetery.  Elliott Sons funeral home in charge. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Beatrice S. Padgett; son, Hubert Lester Padgett, Jr., Augusta; daughter, Miss Hassie Padgett of Keysville; father Elbert P. Padgett of Stapleton, Ga.; brother, M. C. Padgett of Atlanta, and a sister, Mrs. James Wilson of Stapleton. (JR)

Hubert Lester Padgett, Jr., died May 12, 1978.  Funeral conducted at Keysville Methodist Church.  Interment in the church cemetery.  A native of Jefferson County.  Lived in Burke County for 32 years.  A former physical education teacher in Burke County and Richmond County.  Owner and operator of the Padgett Grocery Store in Keysville, Ga. Served in the National Guard during the blockade crisis. A member of the Keysville Methodist Church. Husband of Patsy M. Padgett, Keysville; one son, Hubert L. Padgett, III, Keysville; mother, Beatrice S. Padgett, Keysville; one sister, Mrs. Upton Cochran, Keysville,  M. W. Callaway & Sons Funeral Home, Wrens, Ga. (TAC)
