Ga.- Estelle Rooks Hobbs Stapleton, 87, wife of the late Lewis Hobbs
and the late Maurice Stapleton, went home to serve her Lord on Sunday,
January 23, 2011 at Westwood Nursing Home in Evans GA. Funeral services will
be on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at 1100AM at Reedy Creek Baptist Church
with Rev. John A. Jenkins officiating. Interment will follow in the church
cemetery. Born to the late Maybell Owens Rooks and the late Roscoe Rooks in
Warren County, she grew up and lived most of her life in Stapleton GA where
she was a seamstress. She was a member of Reedy Creek Baptist Church where
she served the Lord as Treasurer, in the Joy Sunday School Class and in the
WMU. Estelle loved to read, to solve crossword puzzles, to work in her
vegetable garden and to cook-she especially enjoyed baking. Most of all, she
loved her family and friends who will miss her greatly. Estelle's survivors
include her four children, Wayne L. Hobbs (Janie) of Thomson GA, June H.
Glover (John) of Augusta GA, Kenneth A. Hobbs (Phyllis) of St. Marks FL, and
Janet L. Hobbs of Augusta GA; four grandchildren, Carol H. McCorkle (Chess)
of Thomson GA, Dana G. Esslinger (Jeff) of Cartersville GA, Amy G. Scherer
(Joseph) of Martinez GA, and Anthony L. Hobbs (Becky) of St. Marks FL; six
great grandchildren, Brittany McCorkle, Chelsy McCorkle, Jonathan McCorkle,
Abby Esslinger, John Joseph Scherer, and William Scherer; a special niece ,
Gail Field; and a special nephew, Allen Hobbs. Pallbearers will be Jeff
Esslinger, David Field, Allen Hobbs, Anthony Hobbs, Chess McCorkle, and
Joseph Scherer. Memorial contributions may be made to Reedy Creek Building
Fund, 1128 Reedy Creek Church Rd, Stapleton GA 30823. The family will
receive friends at James Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 25, 2011 from

Gordon C. "Carl" Stapleton, 80, died December 2, 2007 at his home in Wrens, Ga. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at 2:30 p.m. at James Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Julian West officiating. Burial will follow at the Wrens Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. till time of service. Mr. Stapleton was born on November 25, 1927 in Wrens, Ga. He was the son of the late 2nd Lt. Gordon C. Stapleton and the late Marietta S. Stapleton of Wrens, Ga. Mr. Stapleton was a retired Mechanical Engineer and graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology. Mr. Stapleton served honorably for the United States Army from 1950 to 1952. He retired as an Engineer with Monsanto Textiles in Pensacola, Florida and returned to Wrens, Ga. in 1984. Mr. Stapleton was an active attending member of the Wrens Baptist Church where he taught the Walter Jacobson Sunday School class. He was a member of the Wrens Kiwanis Club and a direct descendant of the Pilgrim's of the MayFlower. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 229 and a world traveler. Survivors included his first cousins, Mildred S. Jordan, Barbara A. Whitaker, and Lorene A. Spence; also cousins, Jere R. Jordan, J. Brian Whitaker, William E. Avera, Katelin A. Whitaker, Shelby A.
