Joliet, Illinois, July 5, 1931, Arthur Miller, age 33, holed out of the Illinois state penitentiary yesterday while serving life for murder.  Miller was a trusty, and alone in the office Warden Henry C. Hill, he spotted a complete golf outfit belonging to the warden's son, Phillip.  He changed clothes picked up the bag of clubs  and walked out.  He successfully fooled a lot of guards who later explained they thought he was a golfer who had sliced a shot into the penitentiary grounds. JOE MANITOU, resident of Travelers, Michigan, an Indian Chief born on the banks of Chicago River died 10-25-1912 at the age of 120 years old.  He came to the Northern Michigan after the red men had been vanquished in the battle against the whites to gain the master of Illinois.
