Tomme Genealogy Notes

8-7-1870 - The Columbus Daily Sun Newspaper - Capt. R. S. Tomme, aged 37 yrs, Merchant at Lagrange, Georgia died very suddenly on Saturday Evening of last week.  The reporter says" Capt. Tomme left his store about half past four o'clock that evening, not complaining and in good spirits.  On his arrival at his home he started to the dining room for his supper when he stated he was not quite ready, he went into his room and sat down on the trunk, where he died with an attack of apoplexy. 

Joseph Tomme born 4 Sep 1777 in Jefferson, Georgia, and died 1840 in Troup, Georgia.  He married Zelphia Vining, daughter of Shadrack Vining and Phereby Ratcliffe. She was born 16 Feb 1784 in Johnston, North Carolina and died 1879 in Troup, Georgia.

Joel Clinton Tomme married Hilda Jane Vardaman 9-1-1831 Marion, Georgia.

David Crockett Tomme born 8-31-1836 and died 3-8-1915 buried at Old Dublin Memorial Park, Dublin Erath County, Texas.  A Confederate Soldier, Company K, 4th Arkansas Infantry.  Son of Joel Clinton Tomme and Hilda Jane Vardaman.  Married Virginia Ann Cash, born 6-19-1841 and died 12-25-1891.  She is the daughter of Moses Reuben Cash (1814-1880) and Phelitia White Taylor (1819-1910).
