
Murder of Milledge Kneece
May 5th, 1938, Aiken, South Carolina the State versus D. D. Hicks charged with the murder of Milledge Kneece on the night of September 14, 1938 at Mr. Hicks' store in Madison.
The interest was centered around the ice-pick in which Mr. Kneece was alleged to have had in his possession at the time of the struggle which resulted in his death. The ice-pick has not been located but witnesses for the defense testify as having seen it at the scene. The only eye witness in the case is the young 13 year old son of Mr. Hicks who testified to the struggle and the ensuring gun shots which killed Mr. Kneece.
Representing the state is Solicitor Bert Carter, assisted by John Stansfield, an attorney engaged to represent the deceased family while the defendant is represented by Henry Busbee.
The trial is expected to last a long time.
