Will of William Martin of Edgefield District, South Carolina. "I lend to my beloved mother Grace Martin three negroes namely Fanny, Milly and Hariott during her natural life and at her death to be hired out by my Executor and the money arising to go to my sister Elizabeth Farras as long as she lives and at her death to be equally divided among the heirs lawfully begotten of her body and it is my wish that those of her children that hath not arrived to the age of twenty one years nor married that their parts shall be kept by my Executors until such time as they shall arrive at the age of twenty one years or marry. Item: it is my will and desire that my lands shall be sold by my Executor by giving one and two years Credit and the money arising from such sales to be laid out by my Executor for negroes and it is my wish that my Executor will let my sister Elizabeth Farras have the use of the Negroes or the hire of them which ever my Executor shall think proper and at her death for the Negroes to be divided in the same manner as Fanney, Milley and Harriott has heretofore mentioned and lastly I appoint my friend Matt Martin my Executor of my last will and testament in witness my hand and seal this 25th day of June 1801 signed sealed and acknowledged in the presence of us.
