Williams Notes of Interest

3-23-1887 - Toney Williams, colored, who killed his step-son in Bolingbroke (Ga), has been arrested.

Newton Eddie Williams, age 62, husband of Margaret Hadden Williams died 29 days after his wife.  Survived by his son, John M. L. Williams; daughter, Mrs. Oscar L. Perdue; brother, W. A. Williams.  Note: Oscar L. Perdue mother is Hattie Harden Perdue (died 8-26-1954) and his father, George W. Perdue.  Hattie is the daughter of Lawrence Trotter Harden and Jane Moates Harden.  Robert L. Perdue is Oscar L. Perdue's brother.  There is a Oscar Perdue listed as being Police Chief of Stapleton, Georgia.

Margaret Hadden Williams, wife of Newton Ed Williams died at her home 8-2-1940.  Interment in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.  Survivors: son, John L. Williams; daughter, Mrs. Oscar L. Perdue; sisters, Mrs. C. C. Clark, Mrs. Ed Phillips, Mrs. M. C. Clark, Mrs. John Shepherd; brother, John C. Hadden.  Note: Margaret was born in 1873.

Dessie Hadden died 9-13-1973, wife of Oscar C. Thigpen, daughter of Joseph Hadden and Margaret William Hadden; sister, Bessie H. Phillips.
