Laura E. Wyche J. B. Barnett Feb 1918 2/20/1918 Columbus Daily Enquirer; married yesterday at the home of the brides cousin, D. R. Goodwin near Dadeville, Ala.  The bride is a Columbus girl and the groom is a prominent man of Dadeville.  The courtship developed while Miss Wyche was visiting relatives in Alabama.

Brunswick/Lunenburg County, Virginia Deed Book 10 (1770-1771); page 36; George Wyche of Province of Georgia to Edward Rowell of Brunswick County, Virginia,  consideration: 50 lbs current money of Virginia land: 500 acres in Brunswick County on north side of Fountain's Creek....beginning on Rowell's road and then a line to the Rider ? Hog pen this line was made agreeable to Peter Wyche's will... joining the line of the land he first took up... then along Bland's path that leads up to the road from Petersburg to Halifax...the other dimensions {sic} to be referred to the patents granted Peter Wyche and to his will.... no witnesses     George Wyche     Patience Wyche ... Deed acknowledged at court held for Brunswick 11/26/1770 by George Wyche and wife Patience relinquished right of dower and ordered recorded.

Brunswick/Lunenburg County, Virginia Deed Book 10 (1770-1771); page 38; 11/6/1770 -  Deed of Gift, George Clark of Brunswick to Patience Wyche of Province of Georgia consideration natural love and for the better maintenance and livelihood of Patience Wyche, property: two negroes, a girl named Hannah and a boy named Bob.... George Clark...  acknowledged by George Clark 11/26/1770 and ordered recorded.

Deaths

12/16/1897 - Macon Telegraph - The mother of Mr. W. J. Wyche of this city, died in Monroe County, Thursday and was buried at Smarr's Station yesterday afternoon.  She was quite aged and her death was caused from feebleness.  She leaves 7 children.

4/24/1919-Macon Telegraph- P. W. Wyche a life long resident of Macon, Georgia died unexpectedly yesterday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. H. Kidd, 618 Montpella Avenue.  He had been in declining health for several months. Born in Monroe County in 1852 but lived in Macon most of his life. Survivors: daughters, Mrs. E. A. Harden, Greenville, Sc and Mrs. J. H. Kidd, Macon, Georgia; brothers, Messrs. A. B. Wyche and Josh Wyche of Macon, Ga; sisters, Mrs. J. M. Baldwin of this city and Mrs. Fannie Sharpe, Monroe County.  The body was taken to Forsyth for funeral and interment.  The date and hour have not been arranged pending on arrival of relatives.

Misc. Notes

2/21/1889, Columbus Daily Enquirer, M. H. Wyche who lives near Elberton, killed a mad cow last Wednesday who had hydrophobia.  The cow was very dangerous trying to bite, hook and paw everything it came in contact with.

11/3/1898, Columbus Daily Enquirer; Macon, Georgia, 11/2/1898, John M. Wyche, the well known superintendent of the Mansfield Dray Line shot and killed Charlie Caesar, a negro, age 42 at noon today.  The manner was in self defense.  Caesar an old employee, shouted out to Wyche that "It's the noon hour and time to eat and not work."  the man had been drinking.  Wyche wanted to complete the cotton off the drays first.  When Wyche approached Caesar he pulled a knife on him.  Wyche grabbed a plank and struck Caesar and after a few altercations Wyche pulled a pistol in self defense.  Caesar staggered off a few steps and died. Later the jury rendered a verdict of justiable homicide.  and Wyche was released.  Caesar  was shot through the heart.

7/18/1920, Macon Telegraph, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Wyche , J. C. Wyche, Jr. and Molly Hunt left on Friday for St. Simons Island to spend 10 days.
