Glover - Boone
Families The descendants of Seaborn Glover connections to
the Boone family comes in as Mae (Mamie) Glover, born August 6,
1873. She married John Franklin Boone, born February 22, 1867, in
Deep Step, Washington County, Georgia. The marriage was solemnized
on May 28, 1891. John F. Boone Obituary from the Augusta Chronicle reads: John H. Boone, age 75, h/o Mrs. Mae Glover Boone, died at
his residence June 8, 1942. Interment at Stapleton Baptist
Church. He died after a long period of declining heath. A
prominent farmer and civic worker. A native of Washington County and had
lived in the same house for 43 years. Served as a Justice of the
Peace and a notary public and was a member of the Stapleton Methodist
Church. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Mae Glover Boone; two
daughters, Mrs. Louise Martin of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Mrs. (Mae Boone)
J. T. Underwood, of Atlanta; four sons, Harry Boone, of Stapleton, A. S.
Boone, of Charlotte, N. C., R. E. Boone of Atlanta, and John Boone, Jr.,
of Washington, D.C.;two brothers, C.A. Boone of Deep Step, Ga., and Robert
Boone of Sandersville, Ga.; one sister, Mrs. J. R. Mills of Adrian,
Ga. (TAC) John Franklin Boone was the son of John Dawson Boone of
Green County, Georgia and Mary Frances Hood of Washington County,
Georgia. John Dawson Boone was born on November 10, 1831. Mary
Frances Hood was born around 1830. John Dawson Boone and Mary
Frances Hood Boone are buried in Pleasant Grove Church Cemetery.
John Franklin Boone was a farmer, and also served as Justice of the Peace
and a Notary in Stapleton, Georgia. He died June 8, 1942, and is
buried in the Stapleton Church Cemetery beside his wife, Mae, who died
February 23, 1948. They were the parents of these children. Louise Boone, born November 29, 1882. She married
Marvin Martin, died October 23, 1952 and is buried in the Stapleton Church
Cemetery. Harry Boone born September 16, 1894, in Stapleton, Georgia,
Jefferson County. According to the family records, he was a bachelor
farmer, and the only family known time from his home was during a period
of military service in World War I. He died on February 15, 1971,
and is buried in Stapleton Church Cemetery. His death notice in the Augusta Chronicle reads: Harry
Boone, age 77, died 2-15-1971. Buried at Stapleton Baptist
Church. S. A. Blanchard Funeral Home in charge, Gibson, Ga.
Son of John F. and Mae Glover Boone. Retired farmer. Native of
Jefferson County. A veteran of WWI. Survivors: a sister, Mrs.
Mae Boone Underwood of Atlanta, Ga., two brothers, Ralph E. Boone of
Atlanta, Ga., and John Boone of Arlington, Virginia. Mattie Mae Boone was born September 6, 1895, in Stapleton,
Jefferson County, Georgia. She married John Terrell Underwood on
April 25, 1913 in Wrens, Jefferson County, Georgia. She died on June
21, 1977, and is buried in Sec. 51, Lot 83, Westview Cemetery, Atlanta,
Georgia. Albert Sydney Boone was born March 6, 1898 in Stapleton,
Jefferson County, Georgia. He was married to Vesta Busbee and was a
shoe store manager in Charlotte, North Carolina. He died April 23,
1955 and is buried there. He has two brothers, Ralph (Pete) and John
Boone. Children of Albert Sydney Boone and Vesta Busbee Boone
were: Clifford Gordon Boone, born July 23, 1925, in Winston-Salem,
North Carolina. He married Gertrude Bergren of Boston, Mass, born
December 16, 1926. Clifford was an engineer on the C&WC
Railroad, retiring in recent years and are making their home in Stapleton,
Georgia. They are the proud parents of a daughter, Linda D. Boone
Lindsey, born September 25, 1953, and two grandsons, Jack B., born
December 12, 1982 and Adam N. Lindsey, born August 23, 1984. Albert Derrell Boone, born September 23, 1923, in
Waynesboro, Burke County, Georgia. He married Berry J. Smith, born
March 25, 1929, in Charlotte, North Carolina. They had one son,
Albert Derrel, Jr. Venada Evelyn Boone, born October 10, 1929. She
married Robert Jones in Aiken, South Carolina. He was born May 28,
1915 and died July 24, 1957. They were the parents of four
children: Barbara Juanita Randall Hillard, Patricia Evelyn and
Sharon Dianne Jones. Her second marriage was to Richard B.
Scarborough on November 24, 1965. They were making their home in
Lizella, Georgia. The annual Glover/Boone family reunion is evidence
