Hiram Alexander
My brick wall is Hiram Alexander. He was born abt 1794-1798 in probably York Dist, SC. The first record we have of him is in the War of 1812 in Means 1st Regiment where he served from York Dist, SC. He is on the 1820 and 1830 census of York Dist, SC as head of house with some adults and children that we have not been able to entirely identify.
He moved to Butts County, Ga about 1830, and shortly thereafter moved to Henry County, Ga. Records there with him on several deeds, and associated with the Beersheba Church near Locust Grove, Ga. His children were all members of Indian Creek Church near Locust Grove, Ga. He shows on the 1840 census of Henry County, Ga. and is known to have married at least three times, and had children by all three wives. His first wife is unknown. Wife #2 that he married some time after the 1840 census, and before 1842 was named Marey. She died before 1848, as that is when he married wife #3, Martha Tinsley.
The known children of Hiram Alexander and wife #1 are: Jincy, George Washington, Martha,(all born York Dist, SC) Margaret, Catharine, Lydia, Caroline B. (all born Ga.)
With wife #2: Mary E. and John Sharpe (both born Ga)
With Wife #3: Nancy J. (Born after Hiram's death, Ga)
Hiram died between Nov. 1848 and June 1849 in Henry County, Ga and is buried in an unknown location. His estate was probated in Henry County, Ga. Records have been found for him and his children in both Henry County and Butts County, Ga.
Either Hiram or his children were known associates of the following families: Adkins, Sansing, Rogers, Elkins,
Etheridge, Hearne, Glass. He lived near to families surname Garrott, Carter, Combs, Smith, Adkins and Sansing.
