~ The Ninth Annual Marshall Family Reunion
Saturday, June 30, 2007
BEGINS AT 10:00 A.M.
AT TOBESOFKEE RECREATION AREA
CLAYSTONE PAVILION 6600 Mosley Dixon Road 478-474-8770
I-475, Exit 5 - Macon, Bibb County, Georgia
Notes of interest: The pavilion is located on the lake's edge with a beautiful view of the sandy beach; it is also air-conditioned, has restrooms, tables, chairs, small stage and a fully equipped kitchen area. The windows give a panoramic wonderful, clear view of the lake and its sandy beach. There is also a nice playground for the children and grand-children within a very short distance of the pavilion. The cost for the pavilion was paid by donations received from family members at last year's reunion. Entering the park is a one-time cost of $3.00 per person.
Those living in the area are asked to bring a covered dish (or two) enough for their family and enough to share. If, of course, you are unable bring a dish, please know that you are most welcome to come and enjoy the blessings of love and bounty of your extended family as together we share what God has so richly blessed us with.
Those from out of town should make donations in advance so that the families spearheading this event can make the necessary purchases of food and drink! A suggested guide to use in determining your contribution would be to think about the cost per plate. Pete and I have hosted many events of this kind and know the costs involved, so, we would suggest at least $5.00 per person. Be as generous as you can! Please send your donation to Joyce Mosely at PO Box 172 Lizella, GA 31052.
MARK OUR CALENDARS AND PLAN IN ADVANCE TO BE THERE THIS YEAR! WE ARE FAMILY...BY GOD'S DESIGN! HOW GREAT IS THAT!
This year our reunion will have a special addition a celebration of our ancestors who served during the War Between the States a.k.a. Civil War! At 5:00 p.m. there will be a MEMORIAL and DEDICATION SERVICE for Private John Loudy Marshall and Private Henry Doss Marshall, two of Joseph and Nancy Layfield's sons who served in the 6th Regiment of the Georgia Volunteer Infantry. Private (Dr.) Benjamin Franklin Bonner will also be included in the MEMORIAL and DEDICATION SERVICE, he served in the 14th Battalion Georgia Infantry State Guards, and is my (Jackie Marshall Marshall) paternal great-great grandpa. We will pay tribute to them as we gather at their graves at Mt. Paran Church Cemetery, presently known as Bethany Bible Chapel, just inside the Crawford County line, on Highway 80. We will dedicate an Iron Cross to be placed at the foot of their graves. This marker was designed by the United Daughters of the Confederacy to be placed at the foot of the graves of Confederate Soldiers who performed honorable service during the War Between the States. Records reveal that J. L. Marshall, H. D. Marshall and Dr. B.F.C. Bonner yielded such service. The local United Daughters of the Confederacy, Roberta Chapter 2562, and the Lt. James Thomas Woodward Camp 1399, Sons of Confederate Veterans of Warren Robins, all decked out in uniforms of the era, will participate in this impressive ceremony
DON'T MISS IT. The Crawford County Community is invited to attend the Memorial and Dedication Service. All CSA veterans buried at Mt. Paran will be recognized!
Please park on the west side of the church, and it would be a great idea to bring a chair seating will be provided, and you surely don't want to stand.
If you are a descendant, please plan to attend both events!

The Group Shelter building is where we will meet. This is a very nice building with Heat and Air conditioning, parking, a large commercial kitchen, and separate bathrooms for men and women. We will have to bring all cooking utensils as they are not furnished by the park management.
We plan to have computers set up and be able to scan pictures; and make CD’s. We will have a tour of the local cemeteries for those interested.
Each family is asked to bring enough food to feed their family plus two other people. This will accommodate others who are traveling from out of state and have no means to prepare a meal. Those from out of town could pick up a bucket of chicken, etc. Do you have any food allergies or a special diet?
