Benjamin Jackson BECHAM

In the never-ending search for the maiden name of
Benjamin Jackson BECHAM's wife, I am turning to land
records and neighbors.

Benjamin Jackson BECHAM, son of John Y. and Susan
DAVIS BECHAM, b. May 1837 d. 9 Aug 1903, married
sometime before Oct 1867 to a woman named something
like Azaline F., Azline, Agaline F., or Asilena M. She
was born either 1842, 1848, or October 1840.

I find no marriage record in Crawford or Houston
Counties.

The death certificates of her children that I have
leave the mother's name blank. One does state that she
was born in Knoxville, Crawford Co.

B. J. BECHAM's obituary calls her "his wife". (Isn't
that helpful?!) I can't find an obituary for her.

HELP!

Looking to land records, I see that Benjamin Jackson
BECHAM was given land in lot 238 district 3 by
Washington VINING's administrator. I have not yet
pulled the deed, but in the 1860 census Washington
VINING does not have a daughter matching the name
Azline. But, that does not mean that she wasn't some
kind of kin. Is anyone out there researching the
VINING family?

Also in the land records, I see that Benjamin Jackson
BECHAM was a close neighbor of Gray ANDREWS. They are
also seen together as witnesses to wills in the
community. Since these two men seem to be in close
contact, I wonder if Azline was kin to him. Is anyone
out there researching the ANDREWS family?

Thirdly, in August 1906, Mrs. A. F. BECHAM deeds to
her son, Oscar Allen BECHAM, 25 acres in lot 238,
district 3. It is only days after B. J. BECHAM's
death, I don't think that she would have had time to
have the will probated and his land put into her name.
So, I am thinking that this was HER land. There is no
record of her purchasing the land in the name BECHAM.
It stand to reason that she inherited or purchased the
land before she was married and that the original
transaction is in her maiden name.

I am going to pull all of these deeds and the estate
papers of B. J. BECHAM as soon as my husband gets a
workday off and I can go to the courthouse without a
toddler in tow! (She's not very helpful in
courthouses!)

Does anyone have any ideas about finding Azline's
family?? I am open to any suggestion!

Thanks y'all! Amanda Cook, Macon, GA
