[1] This Crawford County, Georgia State Troops military unit may have eventually become Company F, 57th Regiment, Georgia Infantry, because many of its members appear on the rolls of Company F, 57th Regiment.  However, this researcher has not done the research to confirm that information.  Some members of the Georgia State Troops unit, such as my great-grandfather A. (Archibald) F. (Franklin) Knight, listed in this muster, took discharges and moved to other units.  In Archibald’s case, he was mustered out April 1862 and took a three year enlistment with Company K, 45th Regiment, Georgia Infantry, another Crawford County, GA, unit, June 1, 1862, and spent the next three years with Lee’s Army of Northern Virginia.  (He was captured in March and released in June 1865.)

2 Transcribed from photo copy of muster roll obtained from the Georgia Department of Archives and History, 27 October 1982.

3 Elsewhere, in the muster roll, it indicates the period covered is 1 December 1861 to 1 February 1862, which appears more consistent with the dates given for some deaths, discharges, elections, and resignations.
