MRS. AMANDA M. QUATTLEBAUM
Mrs. Quattlebaum of Hawkinsville, died on Thursday last
after a brief but painful illness. She started to
Dooly County on Wednesday morning, in company of her
son, Mr. Joe Quattlebaum, and was apparently in good
health. When near the place of Mr. Willie Anderson,
seven miles from Hawkinsville, she was attacked with a
congestive chill, grew worse so rapidly she was unable
to proceed further, and stopped at Mr. anderson's. A
messenger was sent back to town for a physician, and
everything possible done to relieve her, but without
avail, and death ended her suffering on Thursday. Mrs.
Quattlebaum was a widow lady, and moved to Hawkinsville
about two years ago from Dooly County. She has many
friends here and at her old home. Her remains were
taken to Dooly County for burial.
[Note: According to Watts & Nora Powell's Vol. II -
Pg,. 340, Mrs. Amanda M. Quattlebaum - Born December
22, 1825 - Died - October 11, 1888 is buried in
Cem. # 32 which is HARMONY BAPTIST CHURCH CEM.
[Note: Helen and I have not yet surveyed this cemetery

MRS. AMANDA M. QUATTLEBAUM
It is with sad heart that we record the death of our
venerable and beloved sister, Mrs. Amanda M.
Quattlebaum, who passed triumphantly into eternity
October 11th, 1888. She was born in Edgefield
District, S.C., December 19, 1844. During the year
1853 she, with her family, moved to Dooly County, Ga.,
where she resided thirty-three years. Nearly two years
before her death she moved to Hawkinsville, Ga., that
she might be near her only unmarried daughter. She was
the mother of eight children, two of whom died in
infancy - six live to mourn the loss of a loving and
indulgent mother. Sister Quattlebaum joined Harmony
Baptist Church August 1876, and was baptized by Rev.
Needham W. Collier. She was granted the happy
priviledge of welcoming all of her children as members
of the same household of faith.
