PEACOCK CEMETERY Section of WILLIAMS CEMETERY
This section is definitely, set-aside from the remainder of the cemetery.
As yet, I dont see a connection of the Davis Family to the Williams Family.
In the Citizens & Georgian Newspaper, published in Montezuma , Georgia , I have
found one Obit of a person buried in this section that states :
MRS. CHARLES THOMAS [Mary E. Clark] DAVIS -
Citizen & Georgian March 4, 1937 LAST RITES HELD FOR MRS. CHARLES T. DAVIS.
Montezuma , Ga. March 5
Funeral services were held Wednesday for Mrs. Charles T. Davis of this
City, who passed away Tuesday after a siege of pneumonia. The deceased was 67
years old. Mrs. Davis was a native of Yorkshire , England , coming to this
country in her youth and settling in Pennsylvania . For more than twenty years,
she had been a resident of Montezuma.
Surviving her are her husband, C. T. Davis [Charles Thomas Davis is buried in
Bertha Dozier Cem. In Montezuma , Ga. Beside his sister, daughter & son-in-law.]
Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Annie Moore and Mrs. Ethel Spradley and
eleven grandchildren.
Pallbearers at the services which were held at PEACOCK CEMETERY in Dooly County
were Frank Moore, Lemmon Martin, Bob Harp, L. J. Spradley, Willard Smith, all of
Montezuma and Joe Brent of Cordele.
The Death Certificate of James Davis [Born Jan. 15, 1841 Died Jan. 25, 1929]
in Macon Co., Ga. Informant, Charles Thomas Davis, son, states that James Davis
is buried in PEACOCK CEMETERY in Dooly Co., Ga.
We do NOT find a marked grave, only a distinct sink next to his wifes grave.
His wife being, Annie L. [Dunnaway] Davis, wife of James Davis [Born Oct. 9,
1837 Died May 24, 1911] There is a marker for her, she is also listed in
Powells Vol. II as being buried in WILLIAMS CEMETERY.
