Cornelius G. ROUNTREE,
Mr. Cornelius G. Rountree, postmaster at Egypt, who has been in declining health for over two years, was overcome by tuberculosis Saturday PM. The remains were laid to rest in Baptist Turkey Branch Cemetery Sunday afternoon with Masonic honors, being one of the largest funerals witnessed for a long time in this county, speaks for the high esteem in which he was held. The pallbearers were Messrs. R.P. Mallory, J.G. Mallory, C.D. Wilson, J.E. foy, Drs. B.P. Powers and E.W. Griffin. A lovely floral tribute was placed on his mound. Mr. Rountree was never known to deviate from anything pertaining to integrity. For a number of years he was an ardent member of the Elam Baptist Church.
Note of genealogical interest: Cornelius G. Rountree was born April 11, 1856 He married Roxie Anna Wolfe in 1878, according to Effingham County Marriage records.

Roxie Anna Wolfe ROUNTREE,
The funeral of Mrs. Roxie Wolfe Rountree, widow of the late C.G. Rountree, will be held this morning at 11 o'clock from Elim Baptist (exact spelling) Church, Egypt, followed by interment at Turkey Branch Baptist Church. The Rev. L.L. Day will officiate. Mrs. Rountree, who died Monday night, is survived by three sons, Frank R., and C.C. Rountree of Egypt and W.P. Rountree of Savannah; two daughters, Mrs. T.H. Hollida (exact spelling) of Egypt and Mrs. C.L. Hilton of Savannah; two brothers, C. Wolfe of Egypt and E.S. Coursey of Egypt, and a sister, Mrs. S.F. Wolfe, of Savannah. The pallbearers all grandsons, will be William L. and Thomas C. Hollida, William Preston Rountree, Jr., C.G. Rountree, William Rountree and Courson Hilton. (exact spelling) Fox and Weeks are in charge of arrangements.

Rountree of Egypt, Georgia, Certificate # 29223, Effingham County, Georgia, Militia District No. 12, Roxie Anna (Wolfe) Rountree died at the age of 73. Her place of birth being same county. Father: John Wolfe. Mother: Jane Hurst. Informant was Frank R. Rountree of Egypt, Georgia. Date of death recorded as November 26, 1928.
