It was 165 years ago (July 22, 1838) that
Maximillan, Mary, Mary Anne, and baby
William Wildes were murdered by
Seminoles at their home in Ware County, GA.
Soon after Billy Bowleg's tribe murdered these family members, the
Seminoles
were ordered out of Georgia by Oglethorpe.
Four sons survived the massacre:
Reuben, Jesse, James, and John. The descendants of these sons meet
the
second Sunday in October at the Okeefenokee
Swamp Park in Waycross, GA. |
