GORDON COUNTY, GEORGIA OBITS

HARRIS , Virginia | HOLSENBACK , Dealva |

Virginia HARRIS, 65, died November 7, 1906. IN LOVING REMEMBRANCE The spirit of Mrs. Virginia Harris took its flight on November 7, 1906 to that eternal home - a house not made with hands. She was formerly Miss Virginia Silvey and was born November 30, 1840. She was married to Mr. T. J. Harris on February 29, 1859. Unto them were born eleven children, nine of whom are living. Mrs. Harris had long been a consistent member of the Methodist Church, having joined Shiloh Church in Floyd County nearly forty years ago. In 1886 she moved her membership to Resaca, of which church she was a member when she died. She had been an invalid for almost five years, and the last nine weeks of her life were spent in bed, but she bore her sufferings with Christian fortitude. She loved her church and the cause of her blessed Master, of whom she often spoke. She was truly a model Christian. A few days before she died she called her children and neighbors to her bedside and told them that all was bright and she was going home, and that she wanted them all to meet her in that better world. It was hard to give her up, but it was the Lord's will, and we are cheered by the hope of meeting her in that bright beyond.
(Note: Virginia Silvey was the daughter of William "Joe" Silvey and Mary E. Brown. She was the wife of Thomas Jefferson Harris. She is buried without a marker at Nance Springs Cemetery, Whitfield County, GA. by Netha Dunlap) {Calhoun Times, Nov. 26, 1906, Calhoun, GA}
