Church is currently for sale

(Apr. 2004) cemetery is behind

small brick church in front of the

ball park entrance. This church was

started by Willie Mae McCarter in 1951,

which was unusual for a woman at that time. The

following is her obit.

of Fenton, Mo., formerly of Murrayville

passed away Sat., Nov. 24,

Funeral services will be held

Tuesday, Nov. 27 at 1 P. M.

at the Heiligtag Pfitzinger Mortuary

Chapel in Arnold, Mo

. Mrs. McCarter was born in Union

County, she later moved to

South Carolina where she lived until

she moved to Murrayville in 1951

to begin Full Gospel Assembly of

God (now Lanierland Christian Center).

Mrs. McCarter was the pioneer

Assembly of God Pastor in

Northeast Georgia. She pastured

the church until 1961

at which time she resigned because

of failing health. Survivors:

Husband, Wallace McCarter.

Daughters: Mrs. Polly Cole,

Fenton, Mo.; Mrs. Geraldine

Stefan, Savannah. Sons: Halston

McCarter; Wallace McCarter, Jr.

Both of Fenton,

Mo. Sisters: Clara

Abercrombie, Murrayville;

Hattie Cavendar, Laurens, S. C. ;

Mattie Holbee, Greenville,

South Carolina. Daughter-in-law:

Inez McCarter, Murrayville.
