This Indenture made the seventh day of May in the year of our
Lord Eighteen
hundred and thirty five between Charles L. Kennon of the County & State
aforesaid of the one
part and Elisha Hightower James Stanley James G Cotton John Edwards David
Laney &
William Marsh & Joseph J Whitaker, Trustees for the Methodist Episcopal Church
of the same
County & State of the above witnesseth that the said Charles L Kennon for & in
consideration
of the sum of thirty dollars the receipt wherein is hereby acknowledged hath
bargained sold
& conveyed & by these presents doth bargain sell & convey to the said Elisha
Hightower
James Ramsey James G Cotton John Edwards David Laney William Marsh & Joseph J
Whitaker Trustees & their succesors in trust for the Methodist Episcopal
Church a certain piece
or parcel of land in said county being part of Lot of Land Number two hundred
& sixty eight
(268) in the twentieth district (20) of originally Muscogee but now Harris
County & located &
bounded as follows begining at a Post oak on the East end of said lot on the
line between
said lot number (267) two hundred & sixty seven on the road leading & running
from
Collins Ferry on Chatahoochee River to Whitesville, thence along said land
line North
twenty rods (five chains) to a Sasafras thence West twenty rods to a Red Oak
thence South
(37) thirty seven rods to a Hickory on the road thence along the Road said
Road being
the line to the begining together with the priviledge of a spring on Lot
number 279 two
hundred and seventy nine nearly a North West course from the Church now
building
on the above bargained promised & a Pasway to the same with all the
appurtinances of
said premises to the benifit use & behalf of the said Methodist Episcopal
Church as aforesaid
for the purpose of building a Church (now building) or place of worship for
the members of
said Church which said promises as above located and bounded and the other
priviledges
herein named the said Chaarles L Kennon doth hereby warrant & defend to the
said Trus-
tees & their successors for the use of said Methodist Episcopal Church for the
purposes of
Divine Worship according to the provisions of their own discipline forever in
fee simple
In witness whereof the said Charles L Kennon hath hereunto set his hand & seal

Henry Whitaker who being duly sworn deposeth & saith that he is a Subcribing
witness to the within deed and that he saw Charles L Kennon sign the same for
