Civil War Bios & Stories Of Georgians! I use the term Georgian to remind us that before there was a United States of America there were Colonies and those citizens were Georgians and very loyal to their Colony. So it remained so after the formation of the United States of America. They were a Georgian first and an American second. This is why you will find the soldiers buried according to what state they were from until the Battle of Chattanooga. When a commander in charge was asked about the burial of those that had died and how to separate them by state his comment was " To Hell With States Rights, Bury Them All Together".
