MARVIS B. CHAPMAN
Mr. Marvis B. Chapman, age 71, of Ideal, Georgia, died Thursday, July 7, 1983
in Middle Georgia Hospital, Macon, Georgia. Funeral services were held Friday,
July 8, in the Ideal Baptist Church with burial in LITTLE BETHEL BAPTIST CHURCH
CEMETERY. Dr. William C. Tribble and the Rev. Clarence Keene officiated.
Mr. Chapman was born November 8, 1911 in Ideal,Georgia. He lived there all of
his life, was a retired farmer and lime and fertilizer dealer. He was the
former operator of Red "C" crop dusters, a member and deacon of the Ideal
Baptist Church, where he organized the Royal Ambassadors. He was a member of
the Ideal Lions Club and had served on the governor's staff under Governors
Griffin, Vandiver and Sanders. He served as Macon County commissioner from the
Ideal Dist. for 12 years, 8 of these years he was chairman. He also served as
president of the third congressional district for county commissioners
association. He was a member of Travelers Rest Masonioc Lodge # 65.
Survivors are his wife, Irma Jones Chapman of Ideal, his mother, Mable M.
Chapman of Ideal, a daughter, Mrs. Laquita C. Thomas of Atlanta, two brothers,
Elton C. Chapman of Nashville, Tenn. and Dr. Carlton Chapman of Atlanta, one
sister, Mrs. Harold Fowler of Ideal, two grandchildren, Pam Studdard of Atlanta,
Robby Studdard of Montezuma.
Pallbearers and Honorary pallbearers - Not copied. Watson Mathews Funeral Home
was in charge.
[Note: Marvis B. Chapman [November 8, 1911 - July 7, 1983] is buried in Little
Bethel Cemetery.

VESTER CROMER
Vester Cromer, Native Of Macon County, Dies At Vienna
Funeral services for Vester Cromer, 69, who died Friday, April 3, at his home at
Vienna, were held Saturday in the chapel of Bowen-Everett Funeral Home. Dr. L.
C. Cutts and the Rev. Harold Tucker officiated and burial was in the city
Cemetery [Vienna Cemetery].
Mr. Cromer was a native of Macon County and had lived Vienna for 13 years.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lillie Mae Cromer of Vienna; four sons. L. B.
Cromer, Lamar Cromewr and Wilbur Cromer, all of Vienna and Bob Cromer of Albany;
two daughters Mrs. Hoyt Sewell of Albany and Mrs. Ralph Hurst of Vienna.

JOHN WALTER CROMER
Funeral Services for John W. Cromer, 83, Held Sunday.
John W. Cromer, 83, died at his residence in Ideal Saturday.
He was born and lived his entire lifetime in Macon County. He was a member of the Little Bethel Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Dolly Lawhorne of Oglethorpe and Mrs. Ruth Felker of Ideal; seven sons, Arthur Cromer, Hillard Cromer and Jimmy Cromer, all of Oglethorpe, Isaac Cromer of Americus, Homer Cromer, Lester Cromer and Allen Cromer, all of Ideal; and 38 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday at Little Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. W. T. Childree officiating. Burial was in the LITTLE BETHEL BAPTIST CHURCH CEMETERY. Grandsons of the deceased served as pallbearers.
Smith-Tindol Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
[Note: I do NOT find a marked grave in Little Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery for John Walter Cromer [B. abt. 1873 if he is 83/1956] & died January 14, 1956 ] There are 16 marble posts in the area of the cemetery where there is an unmarked slab for John Walter Cromers wife, Dora Lee [Layfield] Cromer which has a funeral home marker on it with what I think is the incorrect year of birth for her with 1966 as the year of her death. Her Death Certificate info was given by her son, Allen Cromer stating she was born November 8, 1873 and Died December 12, 1966 at Riverside Hospital in Montezuma.
BUT according to previous census records, she was born about 1879 as she was 6 mo. Old, born December on the 1880 Macon Co., Ga. Census.

WILLIAM ALLEN CROMER
Mr. William Allen Cromer, of Ideal, Georgia, age 68, died Thursday, November 3, 1983, in the Macon County Medical Center. Funeral services were held in Whitewater Baptist Church, at 3:00 pm Saturday, November 5th. The Rev. Gene Wilson and the Rev. Gene Ross officiated. Burial was in PINE LEVEL METHODIST CHURCH CEMETERY.
Mr. Cromer, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Cromer, was born November 10, 1914 in Macon County, where he lived all of his life. He was a member of Whitewater Baptist Church and retired from Robins Air Force Base.
Survivors include his wife, Mittie Felker Cromer of Ideal; a son, W. T. Cromer of Ideal three brothers, Ike Cromer of Panama City, Fl., Homer Cromer and Lester Cromer, both of Montezuma.

FRANK PIERCE CROMER
Frank Cromer, 77, Dies Unexpectedly; Funeral Held Sunday.
Funeral services for Frank Pierce Cromer, 77, who died unexpectedly Saturday at his residence in Oglethorpe, were held Sunday afternoon at Whitewater Baptist Church. The Rev. U. W. Rollins, the Rev. Carl Ayers and the Rev. A. B. Hoses officiated.
Pallbearers were Sammie Odom, Buck Mayo, James Cromer, J. B. Barfield, Herman Layfield and Morrison Felker.
Mr. Cromer is survived by his wife, the former Lillie McDaniel; four daughters, Mrs. Camilla Cromer, Mrs. Ike Cromer and Mrs. H. G. Barnes, all of Americus, and Mrs. Ed Mayo of Oglethorpe; two sons, Robert Cromer and Otis Cromer, both of Oglethorpe; and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Smith-Harris Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

MRS. MYRON BENTON [Myrna English] CHEEK
Myrna English Cheek; 91, of Oglethorpe, Ga. passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2003. Funeral services were held Saturday, January 4, 2003 in the Oglethorpe Methodist Church. Burial followed in the OGLETHORPE MEMORIAL GARDENS.
Born in Macon County, she was the daughter of the late Jonathan Respass English and Matilu Little English. She was the widow of Myron Benton Cheek. She was a retired Probate Judge for Macon County. She was a member of the Oglethorpe Methodist Church and the UMW.
She is survived by her children; William R. Cheek of Marietta, Ga., Linda Cheek Beckum of Oglethorpe, Kay Cheek McCraney of Great Falls Montana, five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Watson Mathews Funeral Home in Montezuma had charge of arrangements.
