October 10, 1963 LEON ALLEN CHAPMAN Funeral services for Leon Allen Chapman, 68, of Fort Valley, who died Thursday at his home were held Sunday in Fort Valley First Baptist Church with the Rev. Harold Withers and the Rev. Bruce Lackey officiating. Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery. Mr. Chapman, a native of Taylor County, was a retired Fort Valley City Policeman where he served for 14 years. He was a member of Pie Lebel Baptist Church [I think it was PINE LEVEL METHODIST CHURCH which is where his ancestors are buried.] Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Mary Lee Bray Chapman of Fort Valley; three sons, Leon O. Chapman of Asheville, N.C., Pvt. Jimmy R. Chapman with the U. S. Army at Ft. Lewis, Wash., Terrell Chapman of Fort Valley; two brothers, Lamar Chapman of Montezuma, and D. C. Chapman of Marshallville and three grandchildren. [Note: Leon A. Chapman – Cpl. U.S.Army WWI – Born November 16, 1894 – Died October 3, 1963 is buried in Oaklawn Cemetery in Ft. Valley [Peach Co.], Ga. [Note: Leon was a son of Charles Monroe Chapman and his wife, Calista [Barfield] Chapman]
Citizens & Georgian – Montezuma, Ga. November 7, 1963 GRADY S. CHEEK Funeral services were held at Springhill Funeral Home in Atlanta on Wednesday, October 30, for Grady S. Cheek who died at Our Lady of Perpetual Care Rest Home on Tuesday after a long illness.
r. Harry Fiefield of Atlanta; and Pastor Lloyd H. Seiler officiated and burial was in PEACHTREE BAPTIST CEMETERY. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. E. C. Coogle of Oglethorpe; three grandchildren, Ed, Ann and Sara Coogle of Oglethorpe; one sister, Miss Mattie Sue Cheek; and one brother, Jesse J. Cheek, both of Atlanta. Pallbearers – not copied.

services for Mrs. Mary W. Childs, 88, of Ideal were held Friday,
November 6, from the Chapel of Watson-Mathews Funewral Home. Rev. C. G. Ward, Rev. Clarence Keene and Rev. Cham White
officiated. Burial was in
the IDEAL CEMETERY. Pallbearers

Mrs. Childs died in a local hospital Thursday, November 5, after
a brief illness. She has
been a resident of Macon County for the past seventy years, and was a
member of the Primitive Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Maggie Gilbert of Ideal; one
son, David Childs of Ideal; one brother, Charles Westfield of Decatur,
Ga. and one sister, Mrs. Legare Britt of Fernandina, Fla.; two
grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral
services for Hubert Ronald Cannon, 51, of Ideal, who died unexpectedly
at his home Saturday, January 3, were held Monday,
from the County Line Baptist Church with the Rev. Cham White
officiating. Burial
followed in the COUNTY LINE BAPTIST CHURCH CEMETERY.
Pallbearers were David Childs, Arney Ursy, Sanford Edward, Dill
Jordan, Lamar Massey, M. N. Poole, Wesley Wall, Truck drivers from the
Champion Home Builders formed as an honorary escort.
Mr. Cannon a native of Sumter County,
had lived in Ideal for seven years.
He was an employee of the Champion Home builders in Ellaville,
a former crop duster with the Georgia Forestry Service.
He was a member of the Ideal Lions Club, a veteran of World War
II and a member of the
County Line Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Emily Phillips Cannon of Ideal;
four sons, Hubert R. Cannon, Jr. of Ideal, Charles Cannon of Carrollton,
Texas, Wayne Cannon of Americus and Spec. 4 Wm. R. Cannon of Vietnam;
two daughters, Miss Livie Cannon and Miss Emily Cannon, both of Ideal;
his mother, Mrs. H. C. Cannon of Bainbridge; two sisters, Mrs. Vivian
Ray of Decatur, Ala.; and Mrs. Robert Phillips of Bainbridge; and a
brother, Clifton Cannon of Macon.

Ernest
Leon Christmas, Sr., 71, of Vienna, died suddenly of a heart attack at
his home early Saturday morning, June 7.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, June 9, at Smyrna
Baptist Church with the Rev. Sam Buchanan officiating.
Burial was in the VIENNA CITY CEMETERY.
A native of Dooly County, Mr. Christmas was the son of the late
William Thomas and Nancy Ophelia Murray Christmas.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ernest L. Christmas of Vienna;
one son, Ernest L. Christmas, Jr. of Vienna; two daughters, Mrs. John C.
Wadsworth, Jr. of Oglethorpe and Mrs. Thomas Bledsoe of Pinehurst; one
brother, Albert Christmas of Cordele; one sister, Mrs. Ethel Morris of
Jacksonville, Fla., six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Leola Jones Corley were held Tuesday afternoon from the Chapel of Smith-Tindol Funeral Home with Rev. Carl Ayers of Reynolds, officiating. Burial was in OAK GROVE CEMETERY in Americus. Mrs. Corley, 86, of Oglethorpe, died early Monday morning at a local hospital following an illness of several weeks. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Ida C. Jones of Oglethorpe, three sons, J. D. Dunmon of Oglethorpe, Charlie Dunman and C. W. Dunmon of Americus; one sister, Mrs Susie Davis of Macon [Note: There is "a" James Daniel Dunmon, Sr. [April 28, 1898 - January 30, 1973] buried in Pine Level Cemetery - this could be her son, J.D.Dunmon mentioned above.] [Note: If she is 86 in 1956, she would have been born about 1870] ANYONE HAVING FURTHER INFO - such as the name of her 1st husband and 2nd husband, etc. PLEASE RESPOND.

Mr. Cromer died Tuesday morning at the Oaks Nursing Home in Marshallville
after a long illness.
