Graveside services for Mrs. Clemmie Lockwood Greene, 79, of Ideal were held Wednesday, February 9, 1972 from the LOCKWOOD-IDEAL CEMETERY in Ideal. Elder John Mangham and Elder Kermit Nobles officiated and the following served as pallbearers: Neal Greene, Raymond Greene, Jr. Joe Greene, Melvin Layfield, Billy Layfield, Bobby Layfield.
Mrs. Greene, a lifelong resident of Macon County, passed away February 8, after a lengthy illness.
She is survived by six sons, W. W. Greene of Butler, Raymond Greene and Martin Ray Greene of Oglethorpe, M. D. Greene of Butler, George Greene of Ideal and Lewis Greene of Perry; one daughter, Mrs. Monroe Layfield, Jr. of Ideal; one sister, Mrs. Ellis Taylor of Ideal; seventeen grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Watson-Mathews Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

 JACK  HAYES  GREGORY, 52.

 Jack Hayes Gregory, 52, died October 9, 1971 in Charlotte, N. C. after a long illness.  Services were held  Monday in Fort Valley First Baptist Church with burial in OAKLAWN CEMETERY.

  Mr. Gregory a native of Bibb County, is survived by his widow, Mrs. Kathryn Gregory of Charlotte.  Mrs. Gregory is the former Kathryn Bartlett of Montezuma; two daughters, Mrs. Jackie Keyes of Macon and Miss Darlene Gregory of Charlotte; two sons; Chip Gregory of Macon and Gary Gregory of Charlotte; mother, Mrs. Maggie G. Sayers of Gray; a sister, Mrs. Z. T. Bateman of Macon and two brothers, James Gregory and Marshall Gregory, both of

Macon .

ROBERT JAMES GREEN, 53.

Robert J. Green, Sr., age 53, of Oglethorpe died Friday, October 8, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Atlanta following a heart attack on September 19, while attending a sports event in Atlanta.
Services were held Sunday, October 10 from the Oglethorpe Methodist Church with burial in OGLETHORPE CEMETERY. Rev. L. A. Russ officiated and the following served as pallbearers; Major Beard, Gene Rodgers, Raymond Dawkins, Junior Robinson, C. B. Dentamore, R. L. Roper.
Mr. Green was a native of Concord, North Carolina but had made his home in Oglethorpe for the past 28 years. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Marines. He was a member of the VFW and the Oglethorpe Methodist Church. He was a sheet metal worker.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Emily Johnson Green of Oglethorpe; a son, Robert J. Green, Jr. of Oglethorpe; three daughters, Miss Elaine Green of Atlanta, Misses Janet and Carol Green, both of Oglethorpe; mother, Mrs. Mamie Green Sides of Concord, N.C.; two grandsons, David and Thad Green of Oglethorpe.

LOUIS ALVIN GRANT

Mr. Louis Alvin Grant, 78, of Route 1, Oglethorpe, Ga. died Saturday, May 11, 1991, in Middle Georgia Hospital, Macon, Ga.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 13, in the chapel of Watson-Mathews Funeral Home, Montezuma, Ga. The Rev. Donald Rice and Nelson Weathersby officiated. Burial was in OGLETHORPE MEMORIAL GARDENS.
Mr. Grant, a lifelong resident of Macon County, was born February 27, 1913, the son of Otis Jefferson Grant and Lucy Kelly Grant. He was a retired civil service employee with Warner Robins Air Force Base and a member and deacon of Whitewater Baptist Church. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II.
Survivors are his wife, Nora Rich Grant of Oglethorpe; a daughter, Carolyn B. Stephens of Barnesville; a son, Ronald G. Rich of Snellville; three sisters, Mrs. Inez Hobbs and Mrs. Virginia Taylor, both of Oglethorpe, Mrs. Helen Hobbs of Valdosta; four grandsons.

WILEY FERMAN GILES

W. F. Giles, 80, Dies Unexpectedly- Rites Held Sunday.
Final rites for W. F. Giles, 80 year old resident of Ideal, were held at 3 pm Sunday in the Ideal Baptist Church. The Rev. Isaac J. Cheves and the Rev. W. W. Whaley officiated and burial followed in the OGLETHORPE CEMETERY.
Pallbearers: H. G. Phillips, Harvey McCarty, W. S. Robinson, Marvin Joiner, J. W. Tarrer, Howard Park, James Robinson and Fred Payne.
Mr. Giles died unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 30, 1964 while visiting in the home of a daughter, Mrs. Woodrow Jenkins in Phoenix, Arizona. He was a retired construction worker, a Mason and member of the Woodmen of the World.
Survivors include five daughtgers, Mrs. Bill Murray of Albany, Mrs. Wiley Crittenden of Marietta, Mrs. Millard Wagnon of Atlanta, Mrs. Jenkins of Phoenix and Mrs. V. R. Carter of Ideal; two sons, E. D. Giles and Jake Giles of Ideal; one brother, John Giles; 16 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Watson-Mathews Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

LEON B. GILMORE

Leon B. Gilmore, 70, of 1330 Forsyth Street, St. Paul's Apartments, 1203, Macon, Georgia died Thursday, November 17, 1983. Services were held at 2 pm Friday in Snow's Memorial Chapel. Burial was in RIVERSIDE CEMETERY in Macon. The Rev. C. Wray Ivey officiated.
Mr. Gilmore, a native of Pittsboro, N.C. had lived in Macon for the past 10 years. He was the retired owner and operator of the Montezuma Hotel and was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Eloise Walker Gilmore of Macon; four sons, Preston Gilmore of Savannah, Walton Gilmore of Ellaville, Timothy Gilmore and Danny Gilmore, both of Cordele; four daughters, Camilla Bradshaw of Houston, Texas, Wanda Allen of Orlando, Fl.; Syble Hughes of Cordele and Rebecca Ferrell of Arabi; two brothers, Walton Gilmore of Sharpsburg, N.C. and Dorsey Gilmore of Richmond, Va.; and 12 grandchildren.

Morgan D. "Doc:" Greene, Sr., 72, of Butler, died Thursday, December 7, 2000.
Funeral services were Saturday, December 9, at 11 am at Little Bethel Freewill Baptist Church in Ideal, Ga. with Rev. Sydney Jones and Rev. Perry Wainwright officiating. Burial was in the IDEAL CITY CEMETERY.
He was born in Macon County and was a retired farmer. He was a member of Little Bethel Freewill Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel Hardage Greene of Butler; children; Morgan Durham Greene, Jr.
of Butler, Thomas Marlowe Greene of Butler, Mary Jane Kanazawa of Oglethorpe, Lottie Sue Barfield of Albany, Martha Ellen Tiencken of Reynolds and Sally Diane Clark of Albany; brothers, Ray Greene of Oglethorpe and George Greene of Milledgeville; sisters, Mary Ann Layfield of Ideal; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

FRANK GUERRY

The military funeral of Frank Guerry, formerly of Montezuma, who died Tuesday, May 16, 1972 in Valdosta was held Thursday, May 18, in Quitman, Ga.
After retiring from the Air Force he had made his home in Quitman with a sister, Mrs. L. A. Smith, and was employed by the state as a meat inspector.
Other survivors include W. H. Guerry of Montezuma, Edward Guerry of Vienna, two sisters, Mrs. D. C. Snowden of Pine Apple, Alabama, Mrs. Oscar Moorer of Evergreen, Alabama and many nieces and nephews, including Mrs. DeWitt Gottman of Montezuma.

MRS. WILLIAM VINSON [Edyth Mott] GUY

Edyth Mott Guy, 89, of Butler died Monday, July 29, 2002 at Upson Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services were Thursday, August 1, 2002 at Watson-Giddens Funeral Home in Ellaville, Ga. Burial followed in ELLAVILLE CEMETERY.
She was born January 10, 913 in Schley County to the late Willie Fulford Mott and William Harvey Mott. She was a graduate of Georgia Southwestern and the University of Tennessee. For 40 years, she taught school in Taylor County. One of her greatest accomplishments was winning a state title, The Edyth Mott Guy Award, for FBLA members who win competition in Parliamentary Procedure.
She was a long time member of Pleasant Hill Freewill Baptist Church in Schley County.
She was preceded in death on July 14, 2002 by her husband, William Guy.
She is survived by her sister, Sarah Moore and four sister-in-law, Earlene Greene, Lozia Dee Wall, Emily Smith and Verna Johnson.
Watson-Giddens Funeral Home of Ellaville was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Lela Lorena Garrett, 89, a resident of Ideal, died Monday night in a local hospital.
Widow of the late Joseph H. Garrett of Taylor County, she had resided in Macon County for the past seven years. She was a member of Mt. Nebo Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. R. E. Fouche of Ideal; a sister, Mrs. H. M. Jordan of Jacksonville, Fl.; a brother, Jim Woodall of Mauk; and two granddaughters, Mrs. H. L. McCarty of Ideal and Mrs. C. E. Purvis of Charing; four great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at Mt. Nebo Church with Elder M. A. Hall and the Rev. Henry Thomas officiating. Burial followed in the BLOODWORTH CEMETERY [Taylor County].
Pallbearers were Hinton, Jack and Elza Woodall, Theron and Charlie Hill and Wil;lis Garrett.
Gardner Watson Funeral Home of Montezuma was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Charles A. Greer Passes After Long Illness; Rites Friday.
Funeral services were held Friday, October 31, 1958 at the Oglethorpe Methodist Church for Mrs. Charles A. Greer, wife of the late Dr. Charles A. Greer.
She had spent most of her life as a resident of Oglethorpe and was a membner of the Methodist church and the U.D.C.
The Rev. L. E. Williams, the Rev. Steve Johnson and the Rev. H. H. Sheppard officiated. Burial was in the OGLETHORPE CEMETERY with Watson-Mathews Funeral Home in charge.
Pallbearers were Dr. T. M. Adams, Dr. J. Fred Adams, Johnnie Williams, Dennis Riddle, Jack Ellis, Julian Webb, Jack Rodgers and Martin Shealy.
Survivors include seven neices, Mrs. Tom Hollis, Sr. of Buena Vista, Mrs. Brannon Rice of Athens, Mrs. F. G. Guerry and Mrs. R. C. Collier, Jr. of Montezuma, Major Corene Brooks of Orlando, Fla., Mrs. H. G. Conner, Jr. of Lake Wales, Fla.; and Mrs. R. D. Johnson of San Leurden, Calif.

Mrs. D. C. Gottman, Beloved Citizen, Passes, Sunday.
Mrs. DeWitt C. Gottman, 47, died early Sunday in a local hospital following a short illness.
The former Miss Pauline Painter, of Monroe County, Missouri, she had resided in Montezuma for seventeen years. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church and taught the Men's Bible Class for a number of years. More recently she had been Associate Superintendent and teacher in the Young People's Department.
Survivors include her husband, two sons, Kenneth D. Gottman of Atlanta and Lloyd E. Gottman of Montezuma; a brother, Marvin R. Painter of Zanesville, Ohio; a sister, Mrs. Robert A. Caldwell of Karachi, Pakistan, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry F. Painter of Bedford, Ind., and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at the First Baptist Church, with the Rev. C. G. Ward, pastor and the Rev. L. E. Williams, officiating. Interment followed in BERTHA DOZIER MEMORIAL PARK CEMETERY.

Mrs. Otis [Eula] Gwynes, age 86, of 111 Oglethorpe Street. Andersonville, Georgia died at The Oaks Nursing Home in Marshallville on Tuesday, May 16, 1989.
Graveside services were held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 18, 1989 from the OGLETHORPE CEMETERY. Rev. Huie Holloway, Rev. Wayne Defore and Rev. Byron McEachern officiated.
Mrs. Gwynes was a native of Macon County, born October 22, 1902 and the daughter of the late Seabron Kitchens and Laura Ireland Kitchens. Mrs. Gwynes was the wife of the late Otis Gwynes, she was a homemaker and was a member of the Andersonville United Methodist church.
Survivors include one son, Ray Gwynes of Americus, Ga.; one granddaughter, Andrea Garr of Americus, Ga. and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Graveside Services for Mrs. Elizabeth Vincent Grogan, 78 of Montezuma.
Mrs. Elizabeth Vincent Grogan, 78, of Montezuma, Georgia, died Tuesday, August 8, 1989, in the Montezuma Health Care Center. Graveside services were held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 9, in BERTHA DOZIER MEMORIAL PARK CEMETERY. The Rev. Jack Neill and Freddie Wheeler officiated.
Mrs. Grogan was born in Clay County, Alabama, June 5, 1911, the daughter of John and Jessie Vincent. She had resided in Macon County for the past seventy years, was a member of Cedar Valley Baptist Church and the wife of the late James Oliver Grogan. She was retired from Vanta Mills.
Survivors are a son, James Kenneth Grogan of Montezuma, a brother, John L Vincent of Macon.
Pallbearers: Walt Jackson, Roy Windham, Herman Layfield, James Fergason, Marvin Edwards, Edmund Layfield and Mack Bartlett.

Montezuma Native, Louese Hays Gaston, 86, Buried Here Friday.
Mrs. Louese Hays Gaston, 86, of Columbus, Georgia, died Wednesday, November 22, 1989 at her home.
A native of Montezuma, Mrs. Gaston was the daughter of the late James Elijah Hays and Louise Frederick Hays. She was an active member, until her death, of the National Society of Colonial Dames of America, a Methodist and the wife of the late Dr. Joseph H. Gaston.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, November 24, in FELTON CEMETERY, Montezuma with the Rev. Freddie Wheeler officiating.
Surviving Mrs. Gaston are a son, Dr. J. Harper Gaston of Greenville, a granddaughter, Lisa Anne Gaston and a great granddaughter, Allison E. Gaston-Enholm, both of Atlanta.

Mrs. Rebecca S. Gunter - Funeral Notice
Funeral services for Mrs. Rebecca Satterfield Gunter of Montezuma were held from the Chapel of Watson-Mathews Funeral Home, Monday, June 7, 1971. Dr. A. C. Martin and Dr. Jimmy Hammond officiated. Graveside services were held at ROSWELL GEORGIA CEMETERY.
Mrs. Gunter passed away June 6, in a local Nursing Home. She was a native of Lumpkin County, Georgia but had resided here since 1943.
Survivors include one brother, Dan J. Satterfield of Montezuma; three sisters-in-law, Mrs. John Satterfield of Montezuma, Mrs. A. K. Satterfield of Winder and Mrs. Ben Satterfield of Americus. Among a number of nieces are Mrs. Jack Grizzle, Mrs. Edith Dykes, Mrs. Julian Ransom, Mrs. Joe Hill, Mrs. Earl Jones, all of Montezuma, Mrs. John Harbuck and Mrs. Amanda Lamberth, both of Marshallville.

Final Rites Held Saturday For J. A. Gresham, 56.
Following the Rebel football game Thursday night, September 28, James Alton Gresham, a member of the Montezuma police force who was directing traffic at the second gate, suffered a sudden heart attack and died instantly.
Gresham, who was 56 and a native of Macon County, was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Montezuma, Travelers' Rest Masonic Lodge, Harmony Chapter O.E.S. and the Peach Officers Association of Georgia.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Inez McInvale Gresham; one daughter, Donna Gresham of Montezuma; six sisters, Mrs. W. D. Kelly of Oglethorpe; Mrs. Clovis Fowler of Hawkinsville; Mrs. Lee Barfield of Ideal; Mrs. Ernest W. Fowler of Warm Springs; and Mrs. H. C. Lassiter of Atlanta;a two brothers, W. E. Gresham of Vienna and W. L. Greshan of Byromville.
Funeral services were held Saturday morning at the Montezuma Baptist Church with the pastor, The Rev. C. G. Ward, and the Rev. Melvin York of Oglethorpe, officiating.
Burial was in BERTHA DOZIER MEMORIAL PARK CEMETERY with Watson-Mathews Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers and Honorary pallbearers - Not Copied.

C. J. Green, 84, Former Resident, Dies In Florida.
Charlie Joseph Green, 84, of Pompano Beach, Florida, died Tuesday a.m. in the Pompano Beach hospital, after a short illness.
Mr. Green was a former resident of Macon County and was a member of Red Hill Primitive Baptist Church. He was a retired farmer and a Woodman of the World.
Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Sam Bryan of Oglethorpe, two sons, J. C. Green, Jr. of Oglethorpe and Greer Green of Pompano Beach, Fla.; two brothers, John T. Green of Oglethorpe and Burrell Green of Cordele, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete, pending arrival of relatives.
Smith-Tindol Funeral Home will have charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Martha Giles, 81, Passes After Long Illness.

, 81 year old resident of Ideal, passed away Monday afternoon after a long illness.
Mrs. Giles was a native of El Dorado, Arkansas, but had resided in Ideal for the past 49 years. She was a member of the Ideal Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, W. F. Giles of Ideal; five daughters, Mrs. W. M. Funeral Services On Sunday for Mrs. H. F. Graves, 72, of Albany.

Funeral services were held Sunday morning, November 11th, for Mrs. H. F. Graves, 72, a former Montezuma resident, who died at her home in Albany early Friday morning after an illness of two months.

Mrs. Graves made her home in Montezuma for several years and was a member of the First Baptist Church during her stay here. After the death of her husband, she and her family moved to Albany.

Surviving her death are one daughter, Miss Ruby Graves of Albany, one son, H. F. Graves, Jr. of West Palm Beach, Fla.; two grandchildren and one sister-in-law.

Services were conducted from the Montezuma Funeral Home, the Rev. Jarrett Ragan of Mercer University officiating. Lawrence McKenzie sang "In the Garden", accompanied at the piano by Mrs. John B. Guerry. Interment was in FELTON'S CEMETERY in Montezuma. Pallbearers - Not Copied.

Final Rites Held Monday For Lee B. Gardner.

Final rites were held on Monday afternoon, October 8th for Lee B. Gardner, 74, prominent citizen of Oglethorpe, who died at his residence early Sunday morning. Mr. Gardner had been in declining health for many months.

Born in Macon County on February 1, 1871, the son of the late Sherman Gardner and Cymenthia Davis Gardner, he had made his home here for 43 years. Mr. Gardner, affectionately known to all as "Uncle Lee", was a mail carrier in Oglethorpe for over thirty years retiring from this position September 1, 1933. He later opened a repair shop, which he operated until his sickness.

Mr. Gardner was the brother of the late W. H. Gardner, Clerk of Superior Court, Macon County, and the late Rev. T. C. Gardner, a member of the South Georgia Methodist Conference.

He was an active member of the Oglethorpe Methodist Church, serving this church as a deacon for many years. He was also a member of the Masons and the Woodmen of the world. On February 1, 1943, Mr. Gardner and his wife, who survives him, celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary.

Survivors other than his wife [not named] are two sons, George L. Gardner of Jacksonville, Fla. and W. H. Gardner of Washington, D.C; two grandchildren, Mrs. H. B. Davis of Jacksonville, Fla. and Miss Susanne Gardner of Washington, D.C.; and two great-grandchildren, Becky and Betty Davis of Jacksonville, Ga.

Services were conducted from the Oglethorpe Methodist Church, the Rev. W. W. Whaley officiating, assisted by the Rev. W. R. Rustin and the Rev. John D. Zeigler. Interment was in the OGLETHORPE CEMETERY. Pallbearers & Honorary Escort - Not Copied.

JUDGE WARREN GRICE

Final Rites Tuesday For Judge Grice Of Supreme Court.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 29, at Willow Lake Near Marshallville for Judge Warren Grice, 70, who died at the Delamanter Apartments in Atlanta Sunday afternoon after an illness of several weeks. Burial was in MARSHALLVILLE CEMETERY.

A native of Perry, Judge Grice rose to become one of the State's legal figures, and was a prominent attorney in Macon before going to the Supreme Court. He was born in 1875, the son of the late W. L. Grice and Mattie Virginia Warren Grice. A graduate of Mercer University, he started to practice law at Hawkinsville in 1894. He was attorney general of Georgia in 1914 and 1915, and was president of the Gerorgia Bar Association in 1927.

He was appointed to the Supreme Court by Governor Rivers in 1937; was re-elected for two terms. His present term would have expired January 1, 1947.

Surviving Judge Grice are his widow, the former Miss Clara Elberta Rumph; two daughters, Miss Ruth and Miss Elia Grice, both of Atlanta; two sons, Lieut. Benning M. Grice, USNR, now in service in the Pacific, and Samuel R. Grice of Marshallville; and one grandson, B. M. Grice, Jr. of Macon.

Services were held at his home at Willow Lake, Dr. J. E. Sammons, Pastor of Vineville Baptist Church in Macon, officiating, assisted by the Rev. C. E. Means, pastor of the Marshallville Baptist Church.[Rev. C.E.Means was actually pastor of the Marshallville Methodist Church].

Mrs. Ozella Lawhorne Greer.

Mrs. Ozella Lawhorne Greer, age 77, died Friday, May 2nd in Magnolia Manor Nursing Center in Americus, Ga. Funeral services were held at 3:30 pm Sunday, May 4th in Montezuma United Methodist Church. Rev. Joe Porterfield officiated and burial was in FELTON CEMETERY in Montezuma, Ga.

Mrs. Greer was a native of Worth Co., Ga. but had lived here 53 years. She was a homemaker and a member of Montezuma United Methodist Church.

Surviving Mrs. Greer are her husband, Grant Lee Greer of Montezuma, Ga.; a brother, Marvin Lawhorne of Sytlvester, Ga.; a sister, Mrs. Ray Dawson of Sylvester; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services Held Tuesday for Mrs. Hattie Gwynes.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, August 15, for Mrs. Hallie Esther Gwynes, 66, who died at her residence in Andersonville, Ga. Monday morning.

Mrs. Gwynes has been a resident of Macon County for sixty-three years. She was born in Opelika, Ala. in 1878, the daughter of William and Sadie Kelley. She was a member of the Andersonville Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, George B. Gwynes, Sr.; one brother, H. K. Kelley of Doler, Ga.; three daughters, Mrs. F. H. Bender of Ft. Myers, Fla., Mrs. M. T. Green of Macon, Ga. and Mrs. C. H. Fincher of Americus, Ga.; and four sons, Dewey Lee Gwynes and O. R. Gwynes, both of Andersonville, R. H. Gwynes of Walden, Ga. and George B. Gwynes, Jr. of Albany, Ga. A. number of grandchildren also survive.

Services were conducted at the Andersonville Baptist Church and interment was in the OGLETHORPE CEMETERY.

The Montezuma Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

MISS HARRIET D. GALLAHER

Death of Miss Harriet Gallaher Shock to Friends.

The unexpected death of Miss Harriet Gallaher on Sunday afternoon, April 9, brought grief to many hearts. She had been teaching as principal of the Temple High School since September and came home to spend the Easter holidays with her father and sister out at Spalding. She was not well when she came, but her sickness was not regarded as serious until late Saturday. She was the daughter of Mr. H. N. Gallaher and the late Mrs. Hattie Dupree Gallaher and was twenty-four years of age.

Her father and one sister, Miss Frances Gallaher, survive her. The funeral was conducted at the Montezuma Funeral Home on Monday afternoon. The services were conducted by the Rev. Luther Harrell of Cordele and the Rev. George Ray. Interment was in FELTON CEMETERY

Funeral Services Thursday For E. A. Gibson, 72.

Funeral services for Edd Alvin Gibson, 72, who died at his home in Oglethorpe Tuesday after an extended illness, will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon, August 20, from the Chapel of Watson Mathews Funeral Home.

The Rev. F. M. Y ork will officiate and burial will be in the OGLETHORPE CEMETERY.

Mr. Gibson was a native of Franklin, N.C. but had made his home here since 1915. He was a retired guard at the Macon County Works Camp. He was a member of the Baptist denomination and the Woodmen of the world.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Katherine Bass Gibson of Oglethorpe, a brother, five sisters and a number of nieces and nephews.

Infant Dies of Wreck Injuries

Graveside services for Sandra Griffin, three week old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Griffin of Vienna, were held Sunday afternoon, February 16, at CEDAR VALLEY CEMETERY, Montezuma. The Rev. Warren officiated.

The infant died Friday of injuries received in an automobile accident within the Byromville city limits. Her mother, the former Pauline Jones of Dooly County, was also injured in the accident.

In addition to her parents, the little girl is survived by three sisters and brothers. Her paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Griffin of Montezuma.

Infant Daughter of W. H. Guests Buried.

Funeral services were held last Thursday afternoon at the graveside in the FELTON CEMETERY for Mary Oreola Guest, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Guest, who died late Wednesday night at the Macon County Clinic.

Frail since her birth, the baby was nearly two months old. Surviving are her parents, a brother, Harold Guest, Jr. and a sister, Martha Ann Guest.

The Rev. George M. Ray of the Montezuma Baptist Church and the Rev. B. A. Pafford of the Montezuma Methodist Church conducted the services which were attended only by relatives and a few intimate friends.

Funeral Services Friday For Mr. C. L. Grant, Sr.

Crougher Love Grant, Sr., 68, passed away Saturday morning, February 19, in a local hospital following several days illness. Mr. Grant, a machinist and blacksmith by trade, had been in declining health for several years.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Marietta Virginia Todd of Warner Robins; one son, C. L. Grant, Jr. U.S.Navy; three brothers, W. C. Grant of Atlanta, P. T. Grant of Macon and P. D. Grant, Sr. of Lizella; two sisters, Mrs. G. T. Cotton of LaGrange and Mrs. J. C. Shiver of Lakeland, Fla.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 25, at 3 p.m. from the First Baptist Church, with the Rev. C. G. Ward officiating. Interment will be in the OGLETHORPE CEMETERY. Smith-Tindol Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Ethel Goodin Passes Suddenly.

Mrs. Ethel Moran Goodin, 49, passed away suddenly Monday, April 4, at her residence near Five Points. She had been a resident of Dooly County for two years.

Survivors include the husband, James W. Goodin, one daughter, Sara Elizabeth; three sons, James P.Goodin, Vinson Goodin and Mert Goodin , all of Byromville; her father, David Jackson Bryan of Cadwell; Joseph A. Bryan of Chester; Samuel J. Bryan of Oglethorpe; and Daniel W. Bryan of Miami, Fla.

Graveside funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at BENEVOLENCE CEMETERY, three miles south of Americus, with Rev. Edward Carruth officiating. Smith-Tindol Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements

George Benjamin "Bennie: Greene, 81, of Milledgeville, -passed away Thursday, April 24, 2003. Funeral services were held Saturday, April 26, at 2 p.m. in the LOCKWOOD CEMETERY in Ideal. Elder Dennis Johnson officiated.

Born in Macon County, he was the son of the late Robert Clarence Greene and Clemmie Lockwood Greene. He was a logger and was of the Primitive Baptist Faith. He was a World War II Veteran serving the U.S.Navy.

He is survived by his brother, Martin Ray Greene of Oglethorpe, sister, Mary Ann Layfield of Ideal, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation was 6-8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.

Watson Mathews Funeral Home in Montezuma had charge of arrangements.
