ABNER BERNARD IRBY, JR. 74 of PERRY
Funeral services for Abner Bernard Irby, Jr., 74, of Perry were held Monday in
the chapel of Gardner Watson Funeral Home in Perry.
Mr. Irby died Saturday morning in a Peach County hospital after an illness of
several months.
He was a retired merchant and had lived in Perry 42 years, moving here from
Unadilla. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Perry.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mattie Pattishall Irby of Perry; two daughters,
Mrs. H. L. Walton of Gulfport, Miss., and Mrs. William J. Boone of Perry; three
brothers, L. R. Irby of Macon, H. V. Irby of Sylvester and J. B. Irby of Perry;
three sisters, Mrs. H. B. Haskins of Macon, Mrs. Louise Milan of Warner Robins
and Mrs. W. C. Yates of Perry and three grandchildren.

Funeral services for Abner Bernard, Irby, Jr. 74, of Perry, were held Monday in

EDWARD DERRICK IRBY, SR.
Funeral services for Mr. Edward Derrick Irby, Sr., 70, of Montezuma, were held
at 3 pm Thursday, February 19, 1987 in the First Baptist Church. Mr. Irby died
Tuesday, February 17, in Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany. Burial was
in BERTHA DOZIER MEMORIAL PARK CEMETERY and the Rev. Guy Sayles officiated.
Mr. Irby, a native of Crawford County, resided in Macon County for the past
forty years. He was a farmer, a member of the First Baptist Church and a Navy
Veteran of World War II. He was the son of the late John Feltz Irby and Minnie
Lou Andrews Irby.
Survivors are, his wife, Norma Joe Pearson Irby, a son, Edward Derrick Irby, Jr.
of Montezuma, two daughters, Mrs. Susan Rice of Signal Mountain, Tennessee, Mrs.
Becky Ham of Montezuma, two brothers, Bernard Irby of Ocala, Florida, Marcus
Irby of Perry, Ga., three sisters, Mrs. Genia Pitts and Mrs. J. B. Nelson, both
of Montezuma, Mrs. Richard Perkins of Perry, Ga., six grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Terry Ham, Richard Bush, Henry Poole, Clarence Holmes, Rudy
Cannon and Jay Grifin.
Watson-Mathews Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

HOWARD LEWIS IRBY
Howard Lewis Irby, 63, died Saturday night, September 1, 1979 in a Peach County
hospital. Services were held at 2 pm Monday in Fort Valley First Baptist Church.
The Rev. Jerry Mahan and the Rev. Robert Thompson officiated. Burial was in
OAKLAWN CEMETERY.
Mr. Irby, a native of Macon County, was a salesman for Happyvale Milling Co.,
and was a Veteran of World War II. He was a member of Fort Valley Masonic Lodge
and Fort Valley First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Helen Parks Irby of Fort Valley; a daughter,
Mrs. Sheryl I. White of Blakely, Ga., three sisters, Mrs. Katheryne Perkins of
Perry, and Mrs. Eugenia Pitts and Mrs. Betty Nelson, both of Montezuma; three
brothers, Derrick Irby of Montezuma, Marcus Irby of Fort Valley and Bernard Irby
of Ocala, Fla.; and a grandson.
Rooks Funeral Home in Fort Valley had charge of arrangements.

FUNERAL NOTICE - MRS. MINNIE ANDREWS
IRBY, 79.
Funeral services for Mrs. Minnie Lou Andrews Irby, 79, of Montezuma, who died
August 17, in a local nursing home, after a brief illness, were held Tuesday,
August 18, from the Montezuma Baptist Church. Rev. Ken Bush and Rev. C. G. Ward
officiated and burial was in Bertha Dozier Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Sam Batton, Mack Ham, Ralph Odom, O. B. Bush, Louis Williams
and Dean Fowler.
Mrs. Irby had resided in Macon County most all her life. She was the widow of
the late John Feltz Irby. Mrs. Irby was very active in the Salem Baptist Church
and when the church disbanned she moved her membership to the First Baptist in
Montezuma.
Survivors include four sons: Derrick Irby of Montezuma, Howard Irby and Marcus
Irby, both of Fort Valley and Bernard Irby of Ocala, Florida; three daughters;
Mrs. Milton Bush and Mrs. J. B. Nelson, both of Montezuma and Mrs. Richard
Perkins of Perry; one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Edna Owens of Perry; twenty one
grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Watson - Mathews Funeral Home was in charge.

DEATH ANGEL CALLS PROMINENT CITIZEN
MR. C. E. IVEY DIES
Mr. Charles E. Ivey, one of Macon County's most prominent citizens, passed
away at his home near Oglethorpe last week. Mr. Ivey had lived in South
Georgia many years, having moved from Richland, Ga., to this city. He was a
most excellent man and had thousands of friends in this vicinity and for his
honest attitude and excellent virtues he will be missed.
Mr. Ivey was a good man and everybody loved him and he always reciprocated.
The funeral and interment took place in Oglethorpe.

MRS. CHARLES E. [Mary Elizabeth Benson] IVEY
Mrs. Mary Ivey Dies At Home of Daughter.
Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Benson Ivey, died at the home of Mrs. Will Rasberry on
May 15th. Mrs. Ivey had lived in this community
for twenty-four years and was a member of the Oglethorpe Baptist Church. She
was eighty-three years of age, having been born in Marion, Ga.
Mrs. Ivey was the widowed wife of C. E. Ivey and she was the daughter of the
late Andrew Benson and Ann Thaggard Benson.
Mrs. Ivey is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Marion Greer of Cordele, Mrs.
D. J. Reinschmidt of Pensacola, Gla., and
Mrs. Will Rasberry of Oglethorpe and one son, Mr. Ivey of Oglethorpe.
The funeral was held at the home of Mrs. Will Rasberry on Friday afternoon,
May 19th, at five o'clock.
The officiating ministers were Rev. Carl Ayers and Rev. John Zeigler.
Pallbearers were Woody Rodgers, William Kelley, Lem Greer, Ernest Coker,
Alton Peeke, Dozier Bellew and Dr. H. C. Derrick.

GEORGE L. [Minnie Juanita Abell] IVEY
Mrs. G. L. Ivey, 71, Passes At Athens; Rites Held Monday.
Mrs. G. L. Ivey, 71, passed away late Friday evening, November 15, 1957
at her home in Athens after an illness of three weeks.
She had been a resident of Pine Level Community near Oglethorpe, for more
than twenty years, moving to North Georgia six years ago. The former
Minnie Juanita Abell, native of Webster County, she was a member of the
Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, George L. Ivey of Athens; two daughters,
Mrs. Fred Baird of Hoschton and Mrs. Carlton Baird of Braselton; five sons,
Bernard E. Ivey and James A. Ivey of Athens, George E. Ivey of Portland,
Oregon, Jack O. Ivey of Montezuma and Bobby W. Ivey of Ideal; one sister,
Mrs. Alabama Hammonds of Enigma; thirteen grandchildren and five great
grandchildren.
Funeral services were conductged Monday in Zion Baptist Church in
Braselton with the Rev. C. J. McNeal and the Rev. Wiley Holland officiating.
Interment followed in the ZION BAPTIST CHURCH of BRASELTON.

JACK OLIVER IVEY
Mr. Jack Oliver Ivey, 69, of Route 1, Montezuma, Georgia, died Tuesday,
August 18, 1992 in a local hospital.
Services were held at 2 PM Thursday, August 20, 1992 in CEDAR VALLEY
BAPTIST CHURCH, with burial in the CHURCH CEMETERY. The Rev. Keith
Alderman officiated. The Deacons of the church served as pallbearers.
Mr. Ivey, a son of George L. Ivey and Minnie Juanita Abel Ivey, was born
in Jackson County, July 6, 1923. He had resided in Macon County for
most of his life. He was a member, Sunday School teacher and Chairman
of deacons of Cedar Valley Baptist Church. He was retired from Warner
Robins Air Fore Base in the production management department. He was
an Army Veteran of World War II.
Survivors are, his wife, Helen Sawyer Ivey of Montezuma, a son, David L.
Ivey of Harbor Springs, Michigan, two sisters, Mrs. Fred Baird of Braselton,
Georgia and Mrs. H. C. Baird of Hoschton, Georgia, three brothers, George E.
Ivey of Tillamook, Oregon, Bobby W. Ivey of Indian Springs, Georgia and
James A. Ivey of Grand Ridge, Florida, three grandchildren, Jack M. Ivey,
Scott D. Ivey and Kathryn Ann Ivey of Harbor Springs, Michigan.
