HAROLD [Jane Rice] NAUGLE Mrs. Jane Rice Naugle, 92, of Marshallville, Georgia, passed away Saturday morning, Sept. 3, 2005, at her daughter's residence in Cochran. Funeral services were held at 11 am. on Monday, Sept. 5, at MARSHALLVILLE CITY CEMETERY. Rev. Donald Woeltjen officiated. Born on Nov. 23, 1912 in Marshallville, she was the daughter of the late George Rice and Catherine McGehee Rice. Mrs. Naugle served as a Lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corps during World War II in North Africa and Italy. She later served as a public health nurse in Macon County. She was a faithful member of Marshallville United Methodist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Hanold Naugle. Survivors include her two daughters and sons-in-law: Betty [Vassar] Rackley of Ft. Valley and Peggy [Marvin] Maddox of Cochran; two grandchildren; Vassar [Julie] Rackley, IV and Katheryn [Alex] Ganster; and four great grandchildren; Richard, Georgia, Ethan and Josey. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be made to United Hospice, 4125 - 4th, East Avenue, Cordele, Ga. 31015; Marshallville United Methodist Church; or Charity of one;'s choice. An Oglethorpe native, she had many friends in Macon County. Funeral services were in the First United Methodist Church in Milledgeville with burial in the OGLETHORPE MEMORIAL GARDENS CEMETERY. Dr. Harold Lawrence officiated. Dr. Nelson was a graduate of Georgia State College for Women and taught in the math department there from 1930 until 1968. She served as chairman of the math department and as president of the Alumni Association from 1943 until 1947. She received her master's degree from Cornell University in 1937 and her doctorate in 1939. She was awarded the Alumni Association Achievement Award in 1952 and the Alumni Heritage Award in 1987. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School Survivors are her nieces, Louise C. Nelson of Milledgeville, Mary nelson of Jacksonville, Fla. and Mary bedingfield of Cadwell. Memorial donations may be made to the Milledgeville United Methodist Church Growth Fund. Norris, 74, Dies Unexpectedly At Andersonville Funeral services for Drury Samuel Norris, 74, who died unexpectedly Wednesday, July 2, at his Andersonville residence, were held Friday from Reese Park Chapel in Americus with the Rev. J. Arthur Linn of Oglethorpe officiating. Mr. Norris was a native of Macon County and had spent most of his life in the Andersonville Community. He was a son of the late Andrew S. Norris and Sara Bedenbaugh Norris. He was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in the Cut-Off Community. Survivors include the widow, the former Docia Jordan and two daughters, Mrs. J. R. King and Mrs. B. F. King, all of Andersonville; one son, Andrew Samuel Norris of Macon; brother, Green Norris of Sumter County; sister, Mrs. W. C. Fairbanks of Nashville, Tenn.; ten grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Interment was in the MT. ZION LUTHERAN CEMETERY near Oglethorpe. Pallbearers included Coy Ray, Alex Rouse, Olin Holloway, Ed Rodgers, J. R. Johnson and Otis Gwynes. Reese Park Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

November 12, 1980 CHARLIE LEWIS NEISLER Charlie Lewis Neisler of Reynolds died November 6, 1980 at his residence. He was age 81. Services were held Friday, November 7 at PLEASANT GROVE BAPTIST CHURCH with burial in the CHURCH CEMETERY. Rev. Sam Taylor and Rev. Ralph Beckwith officiated. Mr. Neisler was a lifelong resident of Macon Co. He was a farmer and merchant of Macon Co. He was a graduate of Georgia Southwestern Agri College. Survivors include his wife, Jessie Lee Railey Neisler of Reynolds; four sons, Tray H. Neisler and Steve L. Neisler of Warner Robins, Hugh L. Neisler of Macon, Charles E. HARVEY EDWARD [Lucille Cochran] NORTHERN Mrs. Lucille Cochran Northern died Thursday, January 31, in the Medical Center of Central Georgia. Mrs. Northern was 89 years of age. She had made her home with Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Baldwin of Macon and Mrs. L. C. Cheves, Jr. of Montezuma. A widow of the late H. E. Northern, Mrs. Northern was a member of St. Marys Episcopal Church in Montezuma and she was a homemaker. Surviving Mrs. Northern are three nieces, Mrs. L. C. Cheves, Jr. of Montezuma, Mrs. A. J. Baldwin of Macon and Mrs. Conrad Davis of Jacksonville, Fla.; two nephews, Rev. T. M. Underwood, Jr. of Monroe, Ga. and Eric Glaze of Sycamore, Ga. a number of nieces and nephews, several great nieces and nephews and several great-great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Northern were held Saturday, February 2, in the chapel of Watson Mathews Funeral Home. Burial was in FELTON CEMETERY, the Rev. T. M. Underwood, Jr. and Rev. C. G. Ward officiated.

Mrs. Nelson was a native of Macon County and a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. She was the widow of Joe Nelson. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. W. M. Trussell of Oglethorpe and Mrs. E. F. Barfield of Warner Robins; two sons, George B. Nelson of Warner Robins and Edgar F. Nelson of Hagerstown, Md.; two [Step] brothers, W. O. Sheppard of Phenix City, Ala., and Hayes Sheppard of California; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Robert C. Johnson, Sr. of Columbus; 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. John Robert Nelson, 90, of Oglethorpe passed away
Thursday, April 24, 2003. Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday,
April 27, in the PINE LEVEL METHODIST CHURCH CEMETERY in Oglethorpe.
Born in Harris County, he was the son of the
late John Nelson and Ella Allen Nelson. He was the husband of the late Hazel
Rodgers Nelson. He was a produce farmer and a member of the Whitewater Baptist
Church, where he was a deacon and attended Sunday School.
He is survived by his children; John C. Nelson
of Fountain Hills, Arizona, Dr. E. Harold Nelson of Augusta, and Virginia N.
Simmons of Oglethorpe; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Visitation was 5-7 p.m. Saturday in the funeral
home.
Watson Mathews Funeral Home had charge of the
arrangements.

March 12, 1964 Final Rites Held Saturday For Miss Jane Nelson Funeral services for Miss Jane Nelson, 30, of Oglethorpe, who died Thursday, March 5, in a local hospital, were held at 11 AM Saturday in the Oglethorpe Methodist Church. The Rev. Lewis Strickland, the Rev. H. H. Sheppard and the Rev. F. M. York officiated and burial was in the OGLETHORPE CEMETERY. Pallbearers were William Smith, Wayne Lashley, Sanders Smith, Jimmy McDaniel, Jule Webb, Jr. Hixon Guest, Jr. and Hixon Guest, Sr. A lifelong resident of Oglethorpe, Miss Nelson was a graduate of Oglethorpe High School and attended the Woman's College of Georgia in Milledgeville. She had served as librarian at Oglethorpe for the past two years, and was an active member of the Oglethorpe Methodist Church and its Woman's Society of Christian Service. Survivors include her mother, Mrs. Gladys E. Nelson; her grandmother, Mrs. J. R. English, both of Oglethorpe; two aunts, Mrs. M. B. Cheek of Oglethorpe and Mrs. Jim Spears of Kernersville, N. C. ; two uncles, C. O. Nelson and P. M. Nelson, both of Lilly; and a number of cousins. Watson-Mathews Funeral Home of Montezuma was in charge of arrangements. [Note: Jane English Nelson [December 14, 1933 - March 5, 1964] is buried in Oglethorpe Cemetery beside her Mother, Gladys English Nelson [5-26-1908 - No death date on marker in 1993.
