 MRS. JOSPEH S. [Minnie Lee Johnson ] NELSON

 Funeral services for Mrs. Minnie Lee Nelson, 80, who died Thursday in an Americus Hospital, were held Friday in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. The Rev. J. D. Eldridge and Rev. Carl Ayers officiated and burial was in GLOVER CEMETERY near Reynolds.

 Pallbearers were: Franklin Barfield, Tommy Barfield, ___vey, Barfield, and Jimmy Barfield, Billy Trussell, Joe Trussell, Jacky Trussell, and Bobby Trussell.

 An honorary escort was composed of the following: Oscar Simmons, R. O. Slaton, Brown Perry, Dr. R. A. Collins, Davis Whatley, Gann Nelson, G. A. Trussell and Johnny Williams.

 Mrs. Nelson was a native of Macon County and a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. She was the widow of Joe Nelson.

 Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. W. M. Trussell of Oglethorpe and Mrs. E. F. Barfield of Warner Robins; two sons, George B. Nelson of Warner Robins and Edgar F. Nelson of Hagerstown, Md.; two [Step] brothers, W. O. Sheppard of Phenix City, Ala., and Hayes Sheppard of California; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Robert C. Johnson, Sr. of Columbus; 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

 Watson-Mathews Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

LESTER F. [Sonny] NELSON, 71 OF College Park,Ga.
Mr. Lester F. [Sonny] Nelson, age 71, of College Park died November 8, 2001. He is survived by wife, Mrs. Dot Nelson of College Park; daughters and sons-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Kenny [Susan Nelson ] Bristow, of Sherman Oaks, Calif.; Mr. & Mrs. Tim [Cathey Nelson] Upchurch of Sharpsburg; sister, Mr. & Mrs. Mike [Carol Nelson] Gatto of Merritt Island, Fl; brothers, Mr, & Mrs. J. B. Nelson of Montezuma; Mr. & Mrs. Fred Nelson of Montezuma; Mr. & Mrs. Rodney Belcher, Fl; grandchildren, Leslie and Deanna Upchurch of Sharpsburg;; Jesse Bristow of Sherman Oaks, Calif.
Funeral services were held Saturday, November 10, 2001 at the chapel of Parrott Funeral Home. Rev. Danny Stovall officiated. Interment, GREENWOOD CEMETERY. Parrott Funeral Home in Fairburn had charge of arrangements.

HARVEY D. NORRIS

Andersonville Native, Dies in Americus Hospital.
Harvey D. Norris, 69, died Saturday in an Americus hospital. Services were held at 3 p.m. Monday in Reese Park Chapel in Americus. Burial was in OAK GROVE CEMETERY in Americus.
Mr. Norris, a native of Macon County, had lived in the Andersonville area. He was a retired farmer and also retired from Manhattan Shirt Co. Mr. Norris was a member of Andersonville Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife Mrs. Velma Bray Norris of Andersonville; a daughter, Mrs. Delores McKinley of Centerville; a sister, Mrs. Clinton Ledger of Americus; three brothers, J. Fred Norris and Paul G. Norris, both of Macon and the Rev. Leighton R. Norris Lumpkin; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Lanelle Norris of Macon; and two grandchildren.
Reese Park Chapel of Americus had charge of arrangements.

TYLER F. NELSON

Tyler F. Nelson Passes After Long Illness: Rites Sunday.
Funeral services for Tyler F. Nelson, 74, of Montezuma were held in the First Baptist Church Sunday at 3 p.m. the Rev. C. G. Ward and the Rev. Clifton Forrester officiating. Burial was in BERTHA DOZIER MEMORIAL PARK CEMETERY with Watson-Mathews Funeral Home in charge.
Pallbearers - Not Copied.
Mr. Nelson died Saturday following serveral months illness.
A native of Alexander City, Ala., he had lived here forty years and was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Woodmen of the World.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Helen B. Nelson; four sons, Wilbur L. Nelson, W. Fred Nelson, J. B. Nelson, all of Montezuma, and Lester Nelson of Atlanta; two daughters, Mrs. Claude Edwards of Montezuma and Mrs. Cecil Belcher of Sebring, Fla.; a number of grandchildren, nieces and nephews; a sister, Mrs. J. L. Dekle of Fort Valley and a brother, H. F. Nelson of Macon.

Graveside Services for Brittany Dell Naufel, Infant Daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Chris Naufel
Brittany Dell Naufel, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chris Naufel of Oglethorpe, died Friday, November 17, 1989 in the Medical Center of Central Georgia.
Graveside services were held at 4 p.m. Friday in OGLETHORPE MEMORIAL GARDENS CEMETERY. The Rev. Rob Shilts officiated.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Billy Law of Oglethorpe, paternal grandparents, Mrs. Sherri Papp of Americus, John Edward Naufel of Louisville, Ky.
Watson-Mathews Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

THE MACON COUNTY NEWSLEADER - Montezuma, Ga. May 1, 2003

 
 
John Robert Nelson, 90, of Oglethorpe passed away Thursday, April 24, 2003.  Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 27, in the PINE LEVEL METHODIST CHURCH CEMETERY in Oglethorpe.
  Born in Harris County, he was the son of the late John Nelson and Ella Allen Nelson. He was the husband of the late Hazel Rodgers Nelson. He was a produce farmer and a member of the Whitewater Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and attended Sunday School.
  He is survived by his children; John C. Nelson of Fountain Hills, Arizona, Dr. E. Harold Nelson of Augusta, and Virginia N. Simmons of Oglethorpe; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
  Visitation was 5-7 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
  Watson Mathews Funeral Home had charge of the arrangements.

MISS JANE ENGLISH NELSON

Final Rites Held Saturday For Miss Jane Nelson

Funeral services for Miss Jane Nelson, 30, of Oglethorpe, who died Thursday, March 5, in a local hospital, were held at 11 AM Saturday in the Oglethorpe Methodist Church.

The Rev. Lewis Strickland, the Rev. H. H. Sheppard and the Rev. F. M. York officiated and burial was in the OGLETHORPE CEMETERY.

Pallbearers were William Smith, Wayne Lashley, Sanders Smith, Jimmy McDaniel, Jule Webb, Jr. Hixon Guest, Jr. and Hixon Guest, Sr.

A lifelong resident of Oglethorpe, Miss Nelson was a graduate of Oglethorpe High School and attended the Woman's College of Georgia in Milledgeville. She had served as librarian at Oglethorpe for the past two years, and was an active member of the Oglethorpe Methodist Church and its Woman's Society of Christian Service.

Survivors include her mother, Mrs. Gladys E. Nelson; her grandmother, Mrs. J. R. English, both of Oglethorpe; two aunts, Mrs. M. B. Cheek of Oglethorpe and Mrs. Jim Spears of Kernersville, N. C. ; two uncles, C. O. Nelson and P. M. Nelson, both of Lilly; and a number of cousins.

Watson-Mathews Funeral Home of Montezuma was in charge of arrangements.

[Note: Jane English Nelson [December 14, 1933 - March 5, 1964] is buried in Oglethorpe Cemetery beside her Mother, Gladys English Nelson [5-26-1908 - No death date on marker in 1993.
