Mrs. Sarah Chappel died at Eatonton, Ga., on 22d July 1873. She was eighty
years, five months and six days old. She was a native
of England, born at Mt. Pleasant, Summerset Shire, England, near Bath, on 16
February 1791. She with her husband and family removed to America in 1853,
reaching Greensboro, Ga., in April of that year, where they resided until 1869
when her husband died, only lacking two days of being eighty-two years old.

District, S. C. There he married Miss Belzer, daughter of a
prominent citizen of that place. She died and he was left with five small
children, only two of whom survive him. In 1858 he married his second wife, Miss
Mary A. Kaigler. He was a
devoted member of the Baptist Church for many years.

James Loyless was born in Pittsylvania county, Va., in 1784 and died at
Dawson, Ga., April 30th 1873. In early life he moved to Warren county, Ga.,
and subsequently moved to Florida, from thence t Beaufort, South Carolina.
He afterwards moved to Colleton county. About the year 1829 an
unpleasantness sprang up between himself and his oldest son and daughter,
relative to a second marriage, which caused
a separation, neither knowing the other was living,
for forty-three years. Last year the recognition was brought about by the
publication of a meeting held at Salkehatchie in
which brother E. B. Loyless' name was mentioned. A.

Rev. William J. Parks was the son of Henry and Martha Parks (named name
Justice). She had only one brother, William Justice, from whom William Justice
Parks received his name. His father, born in Virginia, was reared in Wilkes
county, North Carolina on Yadkin river, in a rough
mountainous region. His parents and most of the people about them were Baptists.
His mother, also born in Virginia, was an Episcopalian, baptized in infancy and
trained up in that church. About the year 1785 or '86 William J. Parks' parents
removed from North Carolina and settled near the mouth of Beaverdam creek, in
Elbert county, Georgia. Of these parents, William Justice Parks was the youngest
of eight children, born in Franklin county, Ga., November 30, 1799. He died
October 16th 1873. [this notice is nearly three columns long]

John Krast died on 29th of November 1873 in the 91st year of his, age having
been born in a village near Plymouth, in Cornwall,
England, in January 1783. He married a respectable
farmer's daughter by whom he had nine children. He moved to the United States
and lived a few years in Philadelphia, Pa., from which
place he removed to Charleston. Here he lost his first wife and afterwards
married again. He removed to Greenville, then to Spartanburg, S. C. In this
place he spent the last thirty years of his life.

The city of Montgomery, Ala., was scourged by yellow fever in the months of
September, October, and November 1873. The number of cases amounted to about
500, of which about 100 were fatal. The M. E. Church, South, of this place
suffered great loss in the death of two excellent women, Mrs. Eleanora Beggs and
Mrs. Martha H. Beall. Mrs. Beggs was born in Richmond county, Ga., May 27, 1831.
In her childhood, she removed to Columbia, S. C., and in that city grew to
womanhood. She was married to Mr. Thomas Beggs, Oct. 22d, 1850. in 1865 they
removed from Columbia to Mississippi, and thence in 1867 to Montgomery., where
she died Oct. 19, 1873. She leaves a husband and two
nephews (whom she had adopted). Mrs. Beall was the daughter of Samuel and
Elizabeth Cook, and widow of J. B. Beall. She was born in Clinton, Ga., March
21, 1813. She died Dec. 16, 1873. She was married Dec. 22d, 1839 and her husband

a short time, and in August 1864 he married
a daughter of Judge G. P. Culverhouse of Knoxville,
Ga., who survives him with four young children.

removed to Sumter county, where brother Walker spent most of his life. In

and died February 13th 1874. He was reared in Baldwin, which was then
a frontier county. He represented Monroe and Harris
counties in the legislature. He was first married in 1826 and became the father
of thirteen children, only four of whom survive him. His first wife died in 1850
and he married a Mrs. Smith in 1854. She died in 1864,
and the same year he married Mrs. Jane Rutledge of Harris county, who still

Thornton Holman was born April 2d 1790, and died May 19th 1874. This man was
a native of Virginia, born about fifty miles south
of Richmond. After serving as a soldier in the war
of 1812, he went to a good school in Union
District, S. C., for two years. He married Miss Rhoda Ligon, near Augusta,
Ga. In 1829 he settled in Meriwether county, Ga., near the line of Coweta.

she became the wife of Dr. Wm. Carr, by whom she leaves three sons, and was
united in marriage with her surviving husband some twelve years ago.

Mrs. Mary W. T. Jones was born in Amherst county, Virginia, 28th December
1797 and died at the residence of her son, Dr. G. L. Jones, Atlanta,
Georgia, April 10th 1874. Her parents, Wilson and Frances Penn, moved to
Georgia about the year 1808 and on the 13th Oct. 1816 she was married to
Rev. Dabney P. Jones, who was at the time a member
of the South Carolina Conference. Ten children, of the eleven which God gave
her, he took away. Her only living son and one grand-daughter are left.
