Copied from the MADISONIA Madison , Georgia Feb 10 , 1939 C.L. Roberts Passes Thursday at Godfrey. The funeral of Mr. C.L. Roberts was held Friday morning from Antioch church , services conducted by Revs. Donald Harris and W.S. Adams . Mr Roberts Died the day before in his home at Godfrey, after a long illness. Pallbears were Messrs. Robert Shepherd , Rich Chandler , Forster Smith , Ben Jordan , Oscar Moon , and Charlie Cochran. The deceased was born Dec 31 , 1870 in Morgan county , the son of C.L. and Emma shouse Roberts . AS a young man he was married in Macon to Miss Ella Moore , who survives him with one daughter , Mrs. W.M. Hamlin , of Godfrey . His mother was the sister of the Late John R. Shouse ans Alf Shouse , and was born and reared at the old Shouse place , beyond Hard Labor Creek on the Bostwick highway . The old two-story house , one of the oldest in the county , was burned several years ago. A sister Mrs. R.E. Davenport lives in Watkinsville , Interment was in the church yard W.C. Hemperley is in charge.
