The map was found in the estate of the late George Washington McMillan of Acworth, Georgia who was born in Paulding County. The map was donated by his only surviving child Mrs. Mary Dell McMillan Williams of Marietta, Georgia, grandson Chas. H. McMillan of St. Simons Island, granddaughters Mrs. Jane Baird of Coral Gables, Florida and Mrs. Suzanne Fowler of Knoxville, Tennessee.

Our pioneer ancestor, also a George McMillan,migrated from Jackson County in 1834 and settled in what was then a north western section of Cobb County, later assigned to Paulding County by the Georgia legislature.

This map was drawn by Walter Dale for John A. Westbrook, a pioneer landowner of the county when Mr. McMillan purchased the old Dawson farm in Paulding County. Around 1920 he acquired this map.
