31 Mar 1890 (The Atlanta Constitution) Shot From His Own Gun. Dallas, Ga. Mar 30. Yesterday afternoon quite a sad accident took place about eight miles from this place. Mr. Jeff Austin was out hunting, and while standing on an old stump, his gun fell from his hands and was discharged, the whole load lodging in his body. Mr. Austin died from the effects of his wound this morning at 3 o’clock. He was eighteen years old.
