Rev. W. F. “Bill” Byrd, age 83, of Hardee Street, Dallas, Georgia, passed away June 26, 2005 at WellStar Paulding Hospital.

Rev. Byrd was born January 12, 1922 in Dallas, Paulding County, Georgia, son of the late William F. and Vera (Brown) Byrd, Sr. He was a U.S. Veteran and faithful member of the Dallas First United Methodist Church. Bill served as a Methodist Minister for many years before retiring.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ann Maughon Byrd of Dallas; daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Al (Alice) Burley of Dallas; son, Mr. and Mrs. William F. “Bill” (Clare) Byrd of Stone Moun-tain, GA; stepson, Mr. William E. Woodyear of Dallas; 5 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

In addition to his parents, William and Vera Byrd, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mrs. Dorothy Bentley Byrd.

Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, June 30, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. from Dallas First United Methodist Church with Rev. Dick Harris officiating. Special music was rendered by Carol Crook accompanied by Mr. Charles Cole at the piano.

Interment followed in Dallas City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Al Burley, Ed Woodyear, Bill Adams, Fred Wilkins, Alex Burley, Michael Ciese, Clint Horsley, and Caleb Burley.

Benson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
