Mrs. Absolom Carr. Mrs. Sarah L. Carr, 99, died at 4 a.m. today in her home at 284 Glad St. In ill health two years, she was seriously ill three weeks. Born Oct. 4, 1855, in Lancaster, Pa., she was a daughter of James B. and Martha Cummins Cooper, and came to Marion County at the age of four. Sept. 14, 1876, in Big Island Township, she married Absolom Carr who died Dec. 7, 1893, in Paulding County. She was a member of the New Bloomington Methodist Church. Surviving are her four children Low D. Carr and Mrs. Lillie Powelson, both of the Glad St. address. Mrs. Nora Knecht of 287 Park Blvd. and Wesley Carr of Columbus; 10 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was last of a family of five sister and brothers. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 10 a.m. in the Merle H. Hughes Mortuary on Mt. Vernon Ave. Rev. O.W. Robbins will officiate. Burial will be at New Bloomington. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7:30 tomorrow night. |
