Jefferson Charlie “Speed” Goodson Passes March 29

Mr. J. C. (Jefferson Charlie) “Speed” Goodson , age 80 of Austell , Georgia died Tuesday, March 29, 2005 at WellStar Cobb Hospital after an extended illness. He was born June 17, 1924 in Walker County, Georgia the son of the late Robert Cecil Goodson and the late Mrs. Maudie Jewel Norton Goodson. He was a retired heavy equipment mechanic and an avid fisherman. He served in the Army National Guard.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Hazel Irene Dickerson Goodson of Austell; eight children, Hugh and Tina Goodson of Rockmart, Terry and Denise Goodson of Carrollton, Keith and Diane Goodson of Douglasville, Jeff and June Goodson and Kim Walters, all of Dallas, Marty Goodson of Cedartown, Kellie Goodson and Ashley Goodson, both of Austell; three sisters, Lura Beard, Robbie Nell Cash and Sadie Mae Woods, all of Rome; one brother, Shellie Goodson of Rome; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside Services were held on Friday, April 1, 2005 at 2:30 p.m. at Paulding Memorial Gardens

Roy Davis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
