Services Held for Rev. Leonard S. Harper May 10

Reverend Leonard S. Harper, age 79, of Temple, Georgia, passed away on May 6, 2005 at Kennestone Hospital.

Rev. Harper was born February 4, 1926 in Fannin County, Georgia, son of the late Hadley Harper and the late Rosa Ellis Harper. He was a member of the Baptist Faith and was a Mason. Rev. Harper was also a Veteran of the U. S. Navy and was a Welder.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Louise Stepp Harper of Temple; four daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin (Wilma) Jenkins of Canton, Mr. and Mrs. Steve (Lynn) Thompson of Hiram, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry (Cathy) Adams of Cartersville and Mr. and Mrs. Travis (Connie) Locklear of Temple; two sons, Mr. and Mrs. Sam (Shirley) Harper and Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy (Debbie) Harper, both of Temple; 13 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; brother, Mr. Charles Harper of McCaysville.

In addition to his parents, Hadley and Rosa Harper, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 25 years, Martha Elizabeth “Tootsie” Harper.

Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, May 10, 2005 at 1:00 pm at New Liberty Baptist Church with Rev. Edwin Weaver, Rev. James Mulkey, Rev. Johnny Carroll and Rev. Thomas Wheeler officiating. Special music was rendered by the congregation accompanied by Joan Kowen at the piano.

Graveside Services were conducted by Rev. Frankie Ellis at Riverview Cemetery. Pallbearers were Grandsons and Great-Grandsons, James Leonard Harper, David Samuel Harper, Daryl Clinton Harper, Travis Wayne Harper, James Russell Harper, Gary Steven Thompson, Stacey Wayne Adams, Dustin Scott Lingerfelt, Cody Travis Locklear, Connar Travis Locklear, Colson Samuel Ray Locklear.
