Mr. George Washington Hendon, age 93, of Hiram, Georgia, died Tuesday, July 27,2004.

Mr. Hendon retired from Georgia Highway Express in 1976 after 33 years of service, he achieved numerous safe driver awards. He was a licensed Baptist preacher and ordained deacon., He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, Douglasville. He was a former member of Zion View Baptist Church for 50 years.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Grace Hardin Hendon; daughter and son-in-law Jean and Ralph Carson of Powder Springs; daughters, Laverne Hendon and Sharon Hendon, both of Hiram; sons and daughters-in-law, Wilburn and Francie Hendon of Marietta and Wayne and Amy Hendon of Covington; son, Dr. David Hendon of Waco, Texas; brother, Luther Hendon of Beaumont, Texas; grandchildren, Kim Tysor of Coronada, CA, Mark Hendon of Dallas, Alison Lewis of Dallas, Joshua Hendon of Covington, and Dannielle Hendon of Covington; 5 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, July 29, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at Liberty Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Marbut, Rev. Billy Ray and Rev. Jerry Hendon officiating.

Interment followed in Crestlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Davis-Struempf Funeral Home, Austell was in charge of arrangements.
