Services Held for Mr. J. Watson Camp

Mr. J. Watson Camp, age 86, of Old Cartersville Road, Dallas, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, September 9, 2003 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta. Mr. Camp was born April 12, 1917 in Paulding County, son of the late Nick and Jo Etta Brown Camp. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force and member of the New Hope First Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He was previously a member of Austell First Baptist Church and was a Layman Minister and Deacon. He was employed as a Heating and Air Conditioning contractor and worked for the Pullman Company for 18 years as an electrician. Mr. Camp was also a member of Dallas Lodge #182 F. & A.M. Survivors include his wife of more than 65 years, Mrs. Helen Wills Camp, having married on December 25, 1937; two granddaughters, SSD Michael and Torey Hassenfelt of Germany and Miss Jodi Wilson of Jasper, Georgia; great-grandson, Master Allen K. Hassenfelt of Germany; great-granddaughter, Miss Katherine Hassenfelt of Germany; sister, Mrs. Betty C. Godwin of Marietta; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mrs. Candyce "Candy" Camp Wilson; son, Mr. Joey S. Camp and brother, Mr. Johnnie B. Camp.
Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, September 11, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Durwood Perry officiating. A eulogy was given by Mr. W. L. "Jack" Ellison, Jr. Special music was rendered by Mr. Fred "Drew" Lane accompanied by Mr. Charles Cole at the piano. Interment followed at New Hope Cemetery in Dallas. Pallbearers were Larry Boatwright, Laverne H. Farr, Joe Bennett, Scott Wingate, Bobby Jones and Carlton Wilson. Benson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
