---Cedartown Advertiser: Last Saturday Wes. Buchanan; colored, was brought to this place from Rome and lodged in jail. In the spring of 1866? Wes. Was accused of committing a rape on the person of Mrs. Dunaway, a widow lady living near this place. When an attempt was made to arrest him he fled, and was afterwards arrested in Gordon county, where he was confined in jail and the sheriff of Polk notified. Before the sheriff reached Calhoun Wes. Broke jail, but was again after considerable difficulty arrested and brought here and confined. He stayed in jail here but a very short while before he broke out and his whereabouts was not known until information reached here a few weeks ago that he was in Tennessee, and had been arrested. He was living near South Pittsburgh, Marion county, with his wife and sister-in-law, with whom he got into a mess, and they told on him. He was captured by a Mr. Winn and several other parties, who, upon being notified that Polk county would bear the expenses of arrest and bringing him here came with the prisoner to Rome, and Mr. John Powell, one of the marshals of Cedartown, with the proper papers went up and brought him down.
