Mr. William Jesse Atkins
Mr. William Jesse Atkins, age 83, Rt 4, Cedartown passed away Tuesday, May 18, 1971 in the Polk General Hospital, following a few days serious illness. Mr. Atkins was born in Polk Co., Ga., Jan 26, 1888 and had resided in Polk County his entire life.
He was a member and deacon of the Young's Grove Baptist Church and was a retired farmer.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Eula Easterwood; four daughters, Mrs. W.A. Williams, Mrs. Paul Lankford, and Miss Charlene Atkins, all of Cedartown and Mrs. Ed Cosby of Rockmart; three sons, Mr. W. J. Atkins, Jr., Cedartown, Mr. G. V. Atkins, Lithia Springs, Ga and Mr. W.E. Atkins, Nevada; 20 grandchildren, and 33 great grandchildren; one brother, B.A. Atkins of Cedartown.
Funeral services were conducted Wed. afternoon from the Young's Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Jake Cash, the Rev. Carl Robinson, and the Rev. Harmon Lee officiating. Interment followed in the family plot in the Antioch Cemetery. The Young's Grove Youth Choir conducted the music. Grandsons served as pallbearers. Honorary escorts; Mr. Ben Brown, Mr. Clyde Woods, Mr. Edward Rowell, Mr. W.A. Rudeseal, Mr. Earl Williams. The Olin L. Gammage & Sons Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
