Dan Baines dies; final rites to be held today
Dan Baines, 86, of Rockmart, Rte. 1, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 7, in the
local
hospital.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 9, at 2 p.m. at the Prospect
Baptist
Church.
The Rev. Owen Davis will officiate, and interment will be in Rose Hill
Cemetery
with the Freeman Harris Funeral Home in charge.
Pallbearers will be George, Jackie, Wayne and Leonard Baines, Jr., James
Sanford and Henry Lindsey.
Mr. Baines was born in Paulding County on Jan. 6, 1889, son of the late
George
W. and Sarah Little Baines. He was retired from the extermination
business
and was
a member of the Prospect Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his
wife,
Mrs. Annie Lee Lindsey Baines.
He is survived by one son, John W. Baines, of Rockmart; four daughters,
Mrs.
Leonard Baines, Mrs. Johnny Davis and Mrs. Aline Hardin, all of Rockmart;
and Mrs. Horace McGowan of Jacksonville, Fla.; one brother, Leonard
Baines
of Rockmart.
Twenty-three grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and four
great-great-grand-
children also survive.
