Mr. Baines
John W. Baines, 70, of Route 3, Highway 101, Rockmart, died Wednesday,
Jan. 23, (1985) in an Atlanta Hospital.
Born in Bartow County on July 24, 1914, Mr. Baines was the son of the
late Daniel Baines and Anna Lee Lindsey Baines. He was a retired
employee
of Lindsey Pest Control in Cedartown and was a member of the Cross Road
Baptist Church in Taylorsville.
He and his wife, the former Evelyn F. Chambers, had been married for 31
years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Samuel
(Mickey)
Elliott and Mrs. Corky (Ann) Hulsey, both of Dallas; one son, David
Baines
of
Adrin, Mich; three sisters, Mrs. Johnny B. (Bessie Mae) Davis and Mrs.
Lucile
Baines, both of Rockmart and Mrs. Mozell McGowan of Jacksonville, Fla; a
sister-in-law, Mrs. Lena Mae Roberson of Rockmart.
Eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 26, at 2 p.m. in Benson's
Magnolia
Hill Chapel in Dallas. The Rev. Ray Rampy and Rev. Hoyt Lewis
officiated,
and interment was in Piney Woods Cemetery in Haralson County.
Pallbearers were Mike Rutledge, Jimmy Chambers, Gary Lindsey, John
Goldin,
Wayne Baines and Jackie Baines.
The Benson Funeral Home of Dallas was in charge of arrangements.
