Mr. Walter Lee Baines, Jr.
Mr. Walter Lee Baines, Jr, 52, of 193 Fowler Rd., Rockmart, died Thursday, January 25, 2007 at his residence following an extended illness.
Mr. Baines was born in Jacksonville, Florida on Nov. 8, 1954, a son of Walter Lee Baines, Sr. and Edith Keese Baines. He had lived all his life in Polk County where he was a 1972 graduate of Rockmart High School and Coosa Valley Technical College. He was a member and Deacon of the Oak Hill Church of Christ. He was employed as Regional Operations Manager for East Coast Metal Distributors, LLC of Marietta, Ga.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Leonard Baines,Sr. and Lucile (Ma) Baines, and father-in-law, Pat West.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lynn West Baines of Rockmart to whom he was married on December 14, 1973; son, Jeff Baines of Rockmart; parents, Walt and Edith Baines of Rockmart; brothers, Ross Baines of Rockmart, Rick Baines of Dallas, and Mike Baines of Cedartown; mother-in-law, Carolyn West of Rockmart.
The funeral service was conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 28, 2007 in the Oak Hill Church of Christ, 1500 Martha Berry Blvd., Rome with Ministers Joey Haynes and Alvis Miller officiating. Interment was held in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Rockmart.
Pallbearers included David Helton, Phil Miller, Ronnie Turner, Dudley Waits, Kyle Forrister, and Larry Chupp.
The Alvis Miller and Son Funeral Home had charge of the arrangements. (The Rockmart Journal January 31, 2007)
