Calvin Z. "Red" Cain, 70,
passed away Tuesday, Sept. 16, 1997.
Mr. Cain was born May 13, 1927 in Floyd County. He was a member of the
Pine Bower Baptist Church, the Cedartown Chamber of Commerce, and the
Polk County
Civil Defense; a veteran of World War II; and manager-owner of the
Valley Grain Company for 43 years. Surviving are: his wife, Maggie
Jeanette Baker Cain
of Cedartown; two sons, Stanley Calvin Cain of Rome and David Danville
Cain of Cedartown; daughter, Susan Carrol Jones of Cedartown; brother,
Claude Cain
of Lindale; sister, Margaret Turner of Rome; six grandchildren; a great
grandchild and two step grandchildren. Funeral services were held
Thursday, Sept. 18,
at 2 p.m., in the Pine Bower Baptist Church with Rev. R. B. Hulsey, Rev.
Charles Garner, and Rev. Robert Wright officiating. Interment followed
in the church
cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were: John S. Casey, Micah Cain, Edward
Lackey, Jamie Guice, Eddie Lackey, Sid Beiger, and Herman Lindsey.
Honorary pallbearers
included: Pat Cain, Kill Puckett, Terry Lindsey, Mack Moore, Charles
Shifflet, and Otis Blair. The Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home had charge
of the arrangements.
