Mrs. Irene W. Cain, 85, 202 Piedmont Ave., died Wednesday, Jan. 5 (1994) in a Rome Hospital. She was born Nov. 15, 1908 in Cleburne County, AL, was a homemaker and a member of Calvery Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray W. Cain; parents, John and Fannie Parker Mashburn; son, Raymond Cain and granddaughter, Cathy Hayes Strickland.
She is survived by two sons, Clyde Cain and Ralph Cain, both of Rockmart; two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Pannell and Mrs. Frances Hayes, both of Rockmart; sister Mrs. Della Eston, Atlanta; 12 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7 (1994) from the Freeman Harris Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lawrence Garrett officiating. Interment followed in Friendship Cemetery. James Channel served as honorary pallbearer. Freeman Harris Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. (Rockmart Journal, Wednesday, January 12, 1994)
