Grover Lee Cheeks, 56, of Borden Springs, Ala., died in Broden Springs Monday, July 1, after a sudden illness. He was born May 9, 1907, and had lived in Borden Springs for the past 10 years. He was a retired textile employee. Survivors include: his wife; three sons; Numan, Cedartown, David, Montgomery, Ala., and Douglas, Esom Hill; three sisters; Mrs. Ada Minter, Lindale, Mrs. Minnie Norton, Cedartown, and Mrs. Edna Minter, California; four brothers; Amos and Raymond, both of California, Dewey and Willie, both of Borden Springs. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Union Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Hulsey and the Rev. J. C. Robinson officiating. Interment was in Fulwood Cemetery. Pallbearers were: William Beatenbough, Frank McKibben, Joel Cheeks, Walt Smith, David Greene and Jay Wiggins. Olin Gammage Funeral Home had charge of the arrangements.
