Mr. Mac Vernon Cheeks, age 51, of Cedartown passed away Wednesday, July 22,
1998 in an out of town hospital. Mr. Cheeks as born December 8, 1946 in
Calhoun County, Ala. and was a welder with Anchor Metal. He was preceded in
death by his parents, Nina Mae Waller Cheeks and D. William Cheeks.
Survivors include three daughters, Yonna Cheek Cox of Munford, Ala., Vanessa
Cheeks O'Connor of Eufaula, Ala., and April Faith Cheeks of Anniston, Ala.;
three sisters, Rosa Nell Welchel of Cedartown, Dora Alice Henderson, and
Phillis Diane Salmon both of Anniston, Ala.; three brothers, J. W. Biddle,
Kittrel Wayne Cheeks both of Anniston, Ala., and George William Cheeks of
Cedartown; and four grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday,
July 25, 1998 from the chapel of the Gammage Funeral Home with the Rev. Earl
Mongolf officiating. Interment followed in Polk Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers included Jimmy Pope, Jerry Jackson, David Jackson, Sr., Lewis
Welchel, Jamie Cox and Dennis Hurston. Honorary pallbearers included David
Jackson, Jr. and Roscoe Reddish. Gammage Funeral Home of Cedartown was in
charge of the arrangements.
