James Whitson Davis, 71,
passed away Sunday, Nov. 16, 1997 at his residence. Mr. Davis was born
July 12, 1926
in Polk County. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a retired planner
supervisor with Lockheed Aircraft. He was preceded in death by a
grandson. Surviving are; wife, Elsie Imo Baldwin Davis of Cedartown;
son, Jay Van Davis of Cedartown; two sisters, Annie Ruth Burgess of
Cedartown and Frances Davis Hinson of Macon; brother, Thomas William
Davis of Macon; six grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 18, at 2 p.m., from the chapel
of the Gammage Funeral Home, with Rev. O.L. Stokes officiating.
Interment followed in Polk Memory Gardens, with full military rites
conducted by the Brewster Cleveland Post No. 86 Serving as pallbearers
were: Frank Burgess Jr., John Burgess, Jamie Davis, Billy Davis, Ted
Henson, and Stan Davis. Gammage Funeral Home had charge of the
arrangements.
